It's that time of year again when you start thinking about what to get your family and friends for Christmas. I know because I struggle with it every year trying to figure out what they might like. How to buy something for the hard to please, for the person that seems to have everything or even the one person that says 'they don't need anything.'
Here's my guide for you.
In my family I only have 2 sisters and my parents as well as my partner. Even though I should know what they want it's hard to pick something that I think they will like because I second guess myself. So this year during my round of asking for a list of things they might like I added on that if they couldn't think of something they might like then I'd get them something random. Something they wouldn't buy for themselves ever.
Older Sister
My older sister is one of the harder people to really buy for as she doesn't have much interest aside from her games and pop vinyl dolls and I felt that she needed a change from what she buys herself throughout the year. This year she is getting something random. One of my go to stores is Dusk. Dusk is a candle and homewares store in Australia (and possibly other countries I'm unsure). This store has a wide range to suit almost everyone at this time of year. From Christmas gifts to regular candles to candle holders. So this store was my first option. I did find something random in the store to get her.

This is a lantern that holds a candle inside it, it's random yet it also looks really cool!
Younger Sister
Now my younger sister was a little tricky this year because I was buying her and her husband a joint present making it easier on my pocket to! They had just moved into their new house so something house related wasn't out of the question as they didn't have a lot of decorative items. Yes, it can be hard to buy a decorative gift for someones house especially if they had a certain theme they were going for. So this year I decided to go for something easy like an indoor plant. Something that hangs, like a vine plant. She can easily put this anywhere in her house and generally indoor plants are easy to take care of so it's a great idea.

My younger sister also had a baby this year, now this was by far the easiest person to buy for as she is still so young! So the two options were something that she could wear or a stuffed animal. I went for the stuffed animal mainly because I knew she didn't have too many stuffed toys yet had a lot of clothes that she has already outgrown!
Dad
My dad is hard to buy for not going to lie. Generally he gets things like movies, books and cologne. Every year it's normally the same thing. This year I thought about chocolate but unfortunately due to health reasons he can't eat a lot of chocolate so there goes that idea. I know my dad's biggest interest besides cricket was cars. That makes it a little easier as there are so many things you can buy for a car that won't break your wallet. This year it's going to be wheel cleaner and I know you're probably thinking that doesn't really sound like a good present but for my dad it is as he has been saying her needs one for months now. Even to the point where he keeps mentioning it to my partner. Sometimes it's the subtle hints people drop that really help you when it comes to present choosing.
Mum
Mum is one of the hardest people to buy for, as she is one that always says 'don't get me anything'. There are so many different things you can buy for mothers, jewelry, magazine subscription, cups, crystal even figurines. However, the best figurine I could buy for my mum would be a grandmother one which I know she'd hate as she doesn't feel like she's old enough to be known as a grandmother. Every year she gets the same things as well which cuts out a lot of different gifts. So this year I had to go outside the box and really think of what to get her. I settled with a homemade candle. I know what fragrances she loves so I bought everything that is needed to make one and will make her a big one just for her the exact smell she loves. Sometimes it is nicer to get something that is made from her kid even if they are older now.
Partners
You want to get something really special for your loved one this year. Personally I love the gifts that come from the heart no matter how cheap they look. However I also like to go big and spend big for my partner. Now unfortunately I couldn't do that this year as we are expecting a baby and can't really spend crazy amounts of money. Previously I've bought a drone, car sound system, a tablet as well as a watch. This year I'm going with something more simple like shoes as he wants a decent pair of shoes from a decent brand more like it. Otherwise if I had the money I would have helped him pay to get his car tuned which he's been wanting to do for a few months.
Honorable mentions
A really good shop to look at is called the Body Shop, they do all sorts of body lotions, yogurts even fragrances you can wear. They have so many amazing smells that you can't say no to! At this time of the year they do gift sets that come with a little of everything.

It is absolutely amazing gift idea for anyone that loves this.
Another good idea would be the general pop vinyl figures, they aren't as popular as they used to be but they are still something that can be a good idea. Games for consoles is another good gift idea however depending on the game and console it can be a bit pricey.
I absolutely love gift sets, it comes with so many different options and you know there will be something in that gift set that the person you're buying for will like. You can make-up ones, food ones as well as spa ones.

Hopefully this helped a few people decide what to get their friends and family for Christmas! Merry Christmas everyone!
