A simple and moist banana bread recipe that has toasted walnuts, raisins with a tangy sweetness, and lots of bananas. Having received hundreds of 5-star reviews, this is one of our favorite recipes for overripe bananas.

To create healthy banana bread, place ripe bananas, walnuts, and raisins on a chopping board.

My spouse is well-known for his Banana Bread, which he makes using this recipe that he has honed over the years. He makes it often, and it always goes quickly! Our favorite method for ensuring that overripe bananas are never wasted, it's easy to create. It's quite moist and works well for a quick breakfast. We even used this recipe to make Banana Muffins.

I'll prefer banana bread over fruit cake any day, and this loaf keeps its moisture for days. It also makes a tasty and nice holiday gift.

How to Make Banana Bread Videos

The following ingredients will help you produce the best banana bread: eggs, softened butter, baking soda, sugar, salt, flour, and of course, extremely ripe bananas. It becomes a banana nut bread with the optional addition of walnuts and raisins, which also contribute excellent flavor and texture.

Can I exclude the raisins and walnuts?

Indeed! If you leave out the walnuts and raisins, the recipe will still work. We always prepare it nut-free since someone in the family is allergic to walnuts. Even so, your loaf will remain the softest, moistest, and most delicious. To prepare Chocolate Chip Banana Bread, you can also use chocolate in their stead.

Ripe bananas, flour, sugar, eggs, butter, walnuts, and raisins are the ingredients for banana bread.

Ripening Bananas: A Guide

Fast Oven Technique: To expedite the ripening process of your slightly green bananas, spread them out on a baking sheet and bake at 250หšF for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on how ripe they were to begin with.

24-Hour Counter Technique: If you can wait a day, you can put the bunch of bananas in a paper bag at room temperature, covering it and leaving the bananas together. Ethylene, which bananas release, promotes ripening. You can expedite the procedure by including an apple in the bag.

Are Overripe Bananas Safe to Freeze?

DO NOT throw away overripe bananas if you aren't ready to bake with them!

To freeze bananas, place them in a freezer-safe bag without peeling them, press out any excess air, and freeze for up to three months. Thawed bananas can be used to make banana bread. For easy usage in smoothies, you may also freeze them after peeling and chopping them into pieces. P.S. Using the same technique, you can freeze an entire banana bread!

The Recipe for Banana Bread:

The simplest recipe for banana bread is this one. We use a stand mixer for ease of mixing, but you can also use an electric hand mixer or even a hand whisk. No specialized equipment is needed. You'll become an expert very quickly if you watch the tutorial video below!

Beat the butter and sugar together in the mixing bowl.

Add eggs and mashed bananas and stir.

Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, and salt) and mix into batter.

Add the raisins, walnuts, and vanilla; pour into the loaf pan that has been prepped and bake.

Alternatives to a Nutritious Banana Bread:

This was turned into a honey banana bread by my sister Anna, who used honey in place of sugar.

Instead of using all-purpose flour, use organic whole wheat flour.

Grind 1 tablespoon of flaxseed instead of 1 tablespoon of flour.

When using really ripe bananas, reduce sugar to 1/2 cup; they provide an abundance of sweetness.
