Activities That Will Kill Your Boredom

Laying in bed and starring at the ceiling has become overrated, need a break from your own boredom? It's okay to admit it, I mean we're all on the same boat, we're all experiencing this syndrome together -- the boredom syndrome. I have made the ultimate guide to help you overcome your bland routine.

By đ”đ“‡đ’Ÿđ“‰đ“‰đ’¶đ“ƒđ“Ž 𝑀. Published 6 years ago ‱ 10 min read

I can understand where everyone’s boredom is coming from. And it’s safe to say that we’re all holding on to dear life to survive quarantine. It’s not fun to be locked up in our houses 24/7 but keep in mind that we’re better off safe in the comfort of our homes. It’s crucial for us to find something to keep things off our minds, and that’s why I’m here to help! As I grow older, I’ve achieved the quality of maintaining my patience. But that doesn’t mean I’ve become a boring individual, actually I’m quite the opposite. I have tried most of the stuff on this list. And I will tell you from experience that it’s extremely fun and time consuming in every good way. Take the time to try something new!

Skateboard/ Roller skate

I’ve overcome the fear of roller skating and I’ve managed to find interest in it. Make sure to find the right pair of skates if you don’t already own one. Here are the websites with the best roller skates:

  • Moxi Skates
  • Impala Roller Skates
  • Sure-Grip

If you’re like me and you're a beginner in the roller skating world, I’ve managed to find helpful tutorials to help anyone learn the basics.

Practice your stance inside your house if you feel like you need to hold on to something for support or don’t feel safe doing it outside just yet. Make sure you clear up your space first if you’re practicing inside. Safety comes first, wear safety equipment to keep you from hurting yourself, whether it’s inside or outside. And don’t put yourself down if you don’t get it right the first time and struggle. Practice makes perfect. The fun thing about roller skating is that it’s fun and easy to pick up. Not only does it take you from spot A to B faster but it’s a thrilling thing to pick up on your own.

Skateboarding is another good occupation too, it amazes me how people are capable of performing so many tricks on them. I haven't mastered the art of skateboarding just yet, it's a work in progress. Although I'm aquatinted with a lot of people that skateboard, some of you may not be. That's why I'm providing a mini-list of tutorials for beginners that want to take on skateboarding! Keep in mind that tricks will always come later on, first you must get comfortable with your board and learn the basic movements.

Places to get efficient skateboards:

Exercise

I know it’s easier said than done but exercising is such a good way to make time pass by faster. It’s both, beneficial physically and mentally. Exercising is one of those things that you can achieve through many forms, whether it’s by yoga, Zumba, jump roping, skateboarding, riding a bike, walking, etc.

There’s so many ways to get your blood pumping and your muscles moving. No one has ever said exercising is bad, you will notice the change in your mood. You’ll feel accomplished and you’ll feel so much better in your skin. You can even blast your favorite music while you’re getting your body snatched. Release all the bad toxins from within you.

If you’re sore the next day that’s an obvious sign that you did great! Take that thought and use it as a form of motivation. Keep going— obviously take a 1-2 day break in between to let your muscles heal— you won’t regret it. Tell yourself that everyday you're closer to your goal, you go girl!

Workouts I recommend:

  • 10 Mins ABS Workout
  • 20 Min Full Body Workout- No Equipment

If you're interested in exercises that require dancing, I've been watching The Fitness Marshall for 5 years and they never fail to bring a smile to my face! Please go check out their videos, you won't be disappointed!

Have a photoshoot

What better time than to feel yourself? It seems like nowadays we have a lot of time on our hands. Not only will a photoshoot provide you with great pictures to post on social media, but it’s a form of self love. If you have TikTok you’ve probably seen the mirror photoshoot that’s been trending for some time. Try out yourself!

If you have someone that’s willing to help you out— as long as it's safe to— go ahead and ask them for some assistance. But with the advancement in technology we can rely on ourselves and our phone to do all the work.

You can set a timer and pose in front of your camera, you can decorate your surroundings or go outside and have nature be your background in your photos. If you need advice on poses check out these links:

Spa day

On the topic of self love, have a mini spa day all to yourself or with someone that lives with you. Take a breather and lather your face with your favorite face mask, nourish your skin and hydrate it. If you want to come out of quarantine glowing you better pamper yourself! If you have a face steamer use it! If not do it the old fashioned way and boil some water on the stove and let that steam open up your pores. Use a face roller to get rid of your beautiful wrinkles and get the blood flow going.

If you have a bathtub don’t hesitate to use a bath bomb or even use bath salt (not the drug) to get rid of the dead skin lingering on your body. I should mention that bath salt does wonders for the skin and will leave it extra smooth! Don’t hesitate to scrub your body off and use your favorite body wash. Moisturize your skin with some face cream and throw on some eye patches. And remember to also add some moisturizer to your lovely skin after exfoliating. If you already have a routine then that’s great! Keep it up!

Write

When I tell you that writing is fun and relaxing—I’m completely telling the truth— it's fascinating. It’s both therapeutic and rewarding. You can write whatever you’d like, whether it’s a made up story, ideas/advice, real life stories, or even your emotions. Everyone should at least write once a day or at least once a week. It’s a safe way to calm yourself down. And if you do end up pursuing it, you can put your work out there for others to read. That’s where the rewarding part comes to play.

If people start reading your work you’ll feel accomplished, you’ll feel proud of yourself for achieving something. At the end of the day you must do things you love; with love. It won’t hurt to try, and you won’t know unless you try. So come up with something, writing has made time pass by so fast for me.

Learn to play an instrument

Most of us have at least 1-2 instruments in our homes. If you don’t that’s perfectly okay and you shouldn’t be ashamed of it. Sometimes we allow our instruments to sit around and collect dust. We have long forgotten about them, I know I have. But I took it upon myself to sit down on the bench sitting directly in front of my piano and looked up my favorite songs in the form of piano notes. You’d be surprised at the amount of songs on YouTube you can easily learn on the piano.

It took me about 20-30 minutes to learn a song and I felt very proud. You can do the same with any instrument, if you have a phone or computer and access to the internet, you’ll 100% learn how to play an instrument quickly. If you already know how to play an instrument, learn a new song you can play on it. Expand your talent.

Watch a new show

I have recently gotten into the hit series Shameless, and I recommend it a lot! There’s so many shows to come across. There’s a variety of shows on Netflix, Hulu, and even Disney+. Sit back and remanence on old tv shows from Disney such as, That’s So Raven, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Hannah Montana, and many more. Or watch other shows on Netflix such as, The Witcher, On My Block, The Vampire Diaries (if you’re a fan check out The Originals and Legacies), Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, etc. Make yourself comfy, get some popcorn, get a drink, and enjoy.

Get artsy

You can’t go wrong with drawing. Drawing is yet another activity that’s both therapeutic and rewarding. Drawing reflects a lot of someone’s personality and thoughts. You can do whatever you please with drawing. You can use markers, paint, crayons, pencils, so many options to choose from.

And who knows, if you look deep within your work, you might see your emotions reflecting from it. You can embed your anger, sadness, and happiness into a piece of drawing. It’s one of those things that you can also do while listening to music, it’ll set the mood even more.

Learn a new language

Learning a language can be tough for some people— coming from a person that knows more than 2 languages— I can tell you that it’s possible. If you know one language you’re capable of learning more. It’s a skill with mixed views; it’s overlooked or praised. No matter what people say, it’s a form of art. It takes focus and dedication. If you truly feel like it’s something you’d like to do, now it’s your time to do so.

The world is filled with many languages, pick one and stick to it. We’re fortunate enough to have the internet and have access to every tutorial in the world to help us out. Duolingo is a perfect app for those interested in picking up a foreign language fast. It’s so handy in every way. Another way to improvise your learning, watch movies that speak the language you’re trying to learn, listen to their music, or watch videos on YouTube with people native to the language. Learn about their culture!

Read

You can read books, blogs, articles, the news. Whatever you’re into, there’s so many options. A book I recommend is "Becoming" by Michelle Obama, the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, “The Water Dancer” by Ta-Nehisi Coates. There are so many other categories out there to browse, take the time to discover new authors and different genres you’d like to read. Spice up your ranges by discovering different categories.

Browse new music

Everyone needs to expand their playlist ASAP! I will definitely share with you guys my playlist for sure! It’s filled with every type of music, ranging from Reggaeton Latino, French music, chill music, rap, pop. Discovering new music is always good. A quarantine playlist will subside your boredom.

Check out my article, “ The Ultimate Playlist To Get You Through Quarantine” , if you’re interested in expanding your taste in music!

Manifest what you want

Before I proceed with this topic, I highly recommend watching a documentary called The Secret on Netflix— it’s also a book. You may have heard the words manifestation and Law of Attraction get thrown around a bunch lately and for good reasons.

People are discovering their own power and choosing to become deliberate creators of their own reality. Whatever you focus on (consciously or subconsciously) is what is going to show up in your life experience. That's right. You are the creator of your own reality. You can achieve this through meditation, asking the universe and appreciating life itself, surrounding yourself with good vibes, trusting the process and staying patient. You can manifest money, love, and any type of success if you truly believe it and work for it.

If you're interesting in manifesting here's some advice:

Conclusion: When you feel like giving up, I want you to know that just because it's a bad day doesn't mean it's a bad life. Just when you think things are falling apart, they're actually falling into place. Every day is a fresh start. You deserve to be happy. Times are tough but that shouldn't ruin your fun. Things will get better— trust the process. I hope this article helped anyone!

Thank you for taking the time to read my work! Much love!
