"Success Go Get It"

Big goals can be overwhelming. These 5 micro-habits were simple, sustainable, and life-changing.

In fact, most New Year's resolutions fail to stick in February. Why? My attempts have included early morning workouts, no sweeteners, journaling marathons, and deleting social media; you can't go wrong with me. They typically begin strong, burn brightly, and crash hard."...

I discovered something unexpected a few years back. My focus was on experimenting with small habits instead of long-term ones, making them almost useless.

They were effective, but let me clarify. And not just in the immediate future. My daily life experienced a silent ripple effect from these small changes that gradually became more frequent. Here's how five of them ended up being modified more than any other resolution ever did.

1. Drinking Water Before Coffee.

Despite its unpretentious appearance, this one was exceptionally potent. Before bed, I would unquestionably get up and head out for coffee without any hesitation. Despite feeling slightly shaken, I was consistently tired and thirsty the entire morning. It was quite unpleasant.

A pact was made between me and myself to only drink one glass of water before having coffee. That's it.

I noticed slight improvements in my health within a week. I experienced a steady increase in energy, lessened headaches, and, strangely, I began to wake up more spontaneously. It felt like I was giving my body a good, gentle wake-up call in preparation for the caffeine party.

📵 2. Phone service was absent during the initial 30 days. Minutes of the Day.

At the beginning, there was a significant amount of discomfort. My phone was always being looked at as soon as I opened it. Instead of getting up in the air with news, notifications, and adversity, I wanted to find some peace.

To comply, I devised a new protocol: refrain from watching TV for the first half an hour after getting up.

Initially, I just lay in bed and wondered what to do. Soon enough, I devoted more time to intentional habits like stretching, drinking water, opening a window, and sitting in silence. These habits became more frequent. The atmosphere was peaceful throughout the day. '". I didn’t realize until later that my mornings were so loud.

📓 3. Conveying just one sentence per day.

My preference is to write in my notes. The reality? Not so much. For seven days, I would be vigorous but then have to give up or exhaust myself while attempting to write essays every night. I decreased my habit to only one sentence per day.

The level of depth and significance wasn't a prerequisite. Despite the occasional upsetting event, my regular presence on a daily basis, even for ONE sentence, helped me reconnect with myself in sane and effortless moderation. This is something I still strive for today.

On those trying days, flipping back to old entries was a surprising and grounding action.

🛏️ 4. Making My Bed Every Morning.

I know you've heard it a couple of times, and it sounds pretty straightforward. Yet, the psychology of its occurrence is authentic'. My first success of the day came when I made my bed.

A small action that signifies, "Very well, I've started." It gave me a boost of energy. Despite the chaos, I was reminded of the importance of a clean bed in acknowledging that not everything could be chaotic.

Moreover, the reality of returning home to a pre-made bed is entirely different. 'I feel it's like a small present you gave yourself earlier today.

🌿 5. Without My Phone: 5-Minute Walk.

It all started with digital depletion. I needed a break not just from screens, but from all the stimulation out there'." Instead of using my phone, I started walking around the block for five minutes.

No music. No podcasts. It was just fresh air, my footsteps, and my thoughts.’ The.

I felt awkward at first, as if I was going back in time. 'However, it quickly became one of the most tranquil moments in my day. This helped me reset, breathe deeply, and think more clearly'." At times, I would return with a fresh idea or shifted perspective, rather than simply going around the block.

In the end, why is tiny a better choice than big?

I learned that small routines are effective because they can be maintained over time. And they don't require perfection nor a full redesign of life. They're gentle enough to begin and easy enough even when faced with challenging circumstances.
