Decorating a small bedroom: design tricks
Use mirrors to create the illusion of a larger space
It's a trick as old as it is effective: mirrors can create the feeling of a much larger space and can amplify the brightness of a room.
Therefore, if you have a small bedroom, do not limit yourself to putting a small mirror on the wall, because here you are allowed the excess: use a closet with mirrors on the doors or even a wall completely covered by a mirror.
If you find it too much, buy at least one mirror as large as possible, with a decorative frame, which will give the impression of a larger space and which will be at the same time a design element as original as possible.
If the bedroom is a very low room, you can solve the problem by placing mirrors on the tray. Bonus: the more mirrors you have in the room, the more incendiary the sex parties will be, because it is well known that sex in front of the mirror is very exciting.
2. Use light colors, neutral tones, and a few bold accents
Although most designers agree that a small bedroom is the most advantageous of light colors, which create brightness, some say that you should be bold in terms of colors, even if you do not have space.
We think that the best way is the middle way: if you have a small bedroom, use warm colors or at least light shades and complete with "icing on the cake" - a decorative element in a bright color or with a special texture.
It can be a special pillow, original bedding, a single lamp, or a portion of the wall covered with interesting wallpaper.
Regardless of the combination you choose, remember not to have more than 3 colors in a small room, because the space will seem much more crowded and will be visually tiring.
3. Create ingenious storage spaces
In a small bedroom, you can't afford to use countless pieces of furniture, so you will have to focus on multifunctional pieces. Given that people live in smaller and smaller spaces, you will have no problem finding a bed with ingenious storage space.
Apart from the space under the bed, which must be used, we recommend that you do not leave the one around the bed empty either. Create a frame of furniture around the bed and use it to keep a large part of your objects there.
Here are other ingenious storage systems that could help you!
4. Use shelves
If you have a small bedroom, the shelves are your reliable friends, because they allow you to store your things efficiently, in open space, up to the ceiling.
Cabinets and chests of drawers, no matter how narrow, still seem to take up much more space than just shelves. They are airier and can be used for two purposes simultaneously: storage and decoration.
There are so many cool shelving ideas out there, you just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. Here, for example, are the funniest and most inventive bookshelves!
5. Give up the carpet and loaded patterns
One of the most useful tricks, when you have a small bedroom, is to completely give up the carpet, but only if you can afford to invest in a wooden floor or one that looks good.
Of course, it is not advisable to give up the carpet if you have linoleum under it. If you have to keep the carpet, give up the loaded models and opt for a light color - white, cream, beige, gray - these are shades that make the room look bigger.
If you opt for a floor without a carpet, but you still find the space too empty, use one or two carpets with confidence.
Tip: if you leave the floor without a carpet, do not use long curtains on the windows or do not use curtains or drapes at all, because it creates an unpleasant contrast from a visual point of view and you will think that something is missing from the room.
Apply these tips for arranging a small bedroom with confidence and you will feel like a real interior designer!
