10 Fun Things You Can Do When Stuck At Home This Year
Trust me you’ll love these activities

This year is quite hard to cope with, especially when most of us are stuck inside due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We can get very bored and frustrated with the state of the world at this moment in time. This article is designed to help you with this predicament. Here are 10 fun things you can do when stuck at home during this difficult year.
1. Complete a Puzzle
The more pieces the better. I personally took on the rubik’s cube. There are multiple different rubik’s that you can try. Start with the classic 3x3 cube, and work you way up. Each one you do gets progressively harder and nowadays there are quite a lot of them. If you’re more into writing and words, try crossword puzzles instead.
2. Start a Journal
It doesn’t matter what your journal is about. It could be something silly like different types of farts or something serious maybe like cheese. Maybe not cheese, maybe something like chess. It could even be about the pandemic. Your journal could become useful to historians as was Anne Frank’s.
3. Start a Blog
This one’s similar to the one before, but it’s still something different. I mean if you’re already writing on Medium, why not write your own blog. On your blog, you can write whatever you want! By allowing yourself to do this, you’ll be able to centralize your audience. With a blog, you can also repost your articles onto Medium.
4. Practice Instruments
If your neighbors won’t be bothered. Dust off some of those instruments stored in the attic or basement of your house and practice it. You can also go to a music store near by and find a new instrument you’d like. It doesn’t matter if you start off bad, since with practice you’ll get better.
5. Write Poetry
Write a haiku or something without structure. Poetry will help you get all your worries out and onto the page. The difference between poetry and other types of writing is that poetry allows you to write your feelings, and write for yourself. Poetry is something that truly helps you reflect your feelings in your writing, and this is extremely helpful for when you’re stuck at home.
6. Meditate
Lay down, close your eyes, and focus on your breath; or go on your own adventure through the sea in your mind. You can also try to sit in a lotus position and imagine a scene that soothes your mind. Whatever works best for you.
7. Find Yourself A Furry Companion
Try to adopt a dog, cat, or any animal of your choice. Stroking an animal such as a cat is scientifically proven to bring humans joy. Even just hearing it purr can calm you down.
8. Play New Board Games With Your Family or Friends
Play an intense board game with your family. This is sure to bring some excitement and an adrenaline rush into the room. Try a new game like Machi Koro or Clue. Or if you already have conquered every try cards. There are an endless list of games you can play. If you’re stuck at home, play a card game over zoom!
9. Bake Some Tasty Goods
Try baking. Baking can really make the time fly, and there’s always a reward at then end(unless you forget to add a major ingredient such as flour). Try to whip up some tasty treats to bring you happiness.
10. Do Art
Make a comic or draw a beautiful image. Try painting or sculpting. Art can really help you reflect on these time in your own unique way. Try to draw what's outside your window or a mystical land with everything you love. Send your work to your family and friends. Art will calm you down and let you relax.
I hope this article is helpful! Try as many of these things as you’d like and make sure to let me know in the comments which ones worked best for you!!!
