Yvonne Nelson, the acclaimed Ghanaian actress, has recently made a shocking revelation about her past. In her newly launched book titled "I am not Yvonne Nelson," she candidly shared her experience of aborting a pregnancy in 2010, which was the result of a short relationship with rapper Sarkodie.

The disclosure took place during the book launch event held at Peduase Lodge in Ghana on Sunday. Yvonne Nelson courageously narrated the incident in chapter eight, spanning pages 88 to 95. She described how she went for a pregnancy test in the company of her friend Karen, as she had missed her monthly period and wanted to confirm her suspicions.

With a mix of anxiety and trepidation, Yvonne handed the test result to Karen, who read it and exclaimed, "Charlie, it dey there!" The reality of the situation hit Yvonne hard. She realized that this news had the potential to turn her world upside down.

Acknowledging that she was not solely responsible for the pregnancy, Yvonne contacted the man whose child she was carrying, Michael Owusu Addo, better known as Sarkodie, a budding musician at the time. She explained that Sarkodie's future in the music industry was uncertain, and he was still dependent on his mother, making him unprepared to bear the responsibilities of fatherhood.

Reflecting on their relationship, Yvonne revealed that it was not a serious commitment but rather a connection that grew out of their mutual involvement in the music industry. She admired Sarkodie's talent and found solace in music during challenging times. As they got closer, their bond deepened.

In an attempt to terminate the pregnancy, Yvonne resorted to using concoctions recommended by a colleague. Unfortunately, the substance proved ineffective, as subsequent tests confirmed that she was still pregnant. Yvonne expressed her initial concern about bringing a child into the world without a stable family structure, as she had grown up without a father and faced the challenges that came with it. Her own experience influenced her decision-making process.

Yvonne candidly shared her emotional turmoil, stating, "The first thing that hit me when he said no to keeping the pregnancy was my own life. I had grown up without a father in my life... How was I going to bring another human being into this world to live like me, someone whose father would reject him or her?" She saw the opportunity to spare someone else from the same pain she had endured and chose to proceed with the abortion.

Looking back, Yvonne admitted that terminating the pregnancy was one of the most regrettable mistakes of her life. She acknowledged that if she could turn back time and speak to her younger self, she would have chosen differently.

Yvonne Nelson's book delves into her personal journey, revealing both her triumphs and struggles. By sharing her story, she aims to inspire and encourage others facing similar challenges. Despite the difficult choices she has made, Yvonne remains a resilient and celebrated figure in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, using her platform to shed light on important issues and advocate for change.

As her book gains attention, Yvonne Nelson's honesty and vulnerability are commendable. Her willingness to share such intimate details of her past serves as a reminder that everyone faces challenges and makes choices they may later regret. It is through introspection and growth that we learn from our experiences and strive to create a better future.
