Who is Dajjal?

THE FALSE MESSIAH

By InsharahPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Dajjal is a character in Islamic eschatology who is considered to be the "false messiah" or the "Antichrist" in the end times. The Islamic concept of Dajjal is unique to the Islamic religion and is not found in other monotheistic traditions. Dajjal is mentioned in several Islamic texts such as the Hadith, the Quran, and the Sunnah. For Muslims, the belief in Dajjal is an essential part of faith, and understanding who he is and his role in the end times is crucial.

According to Islamic tradition, Dajjal will emerge before the Day of Judgment before the return of Prophet Isa (Jesus), and he will have powers and abilities that are beyond human capacity. He will deceive humanity by claiming to be the Messiah and performing miraculous feats. He will be a man who will claim to be the Messiah or the Savior and will have a large following. However, in reality, he will be an imposter and will bring chaos and destruction wherever he goes.

Muslims are warned to be cautious and vigilant in their faith during this time, as Dajjal will attempt to lead people astray with false promises and temptations.

The following appearance of Dajjaal has been described based on Ahadees. He will be a tall young man with only one eye. The other eye will be bloodied, and his damaged eye will resemble a bloated grape. He will have a broad, slightly depressed chest. He will have a broad forehead with ك ف ر and between each of his eyes will be engraved the word کافر. Every Muslim will be able to read it whether he knows how to read and write or not. Dajjaal will have curly hair.

Dajjal will be staying on earth for 40 days. During 40 days, Dajjaal will remain on the planet. The first of these days will be equivalent to one year, the second to a month, the third to a week, and the subsequent days will be equivalent to the regular days of a year.

On his donkey, Dajjaal will travel the entire planet. The size of the donkey will be such that it will have 40 arms between each of his ears. His donkey will travel at such a rapid pace that it will cover a mile in only one step. He will travel to every region on earth, including the deserts, mountains, and plains. Yet because Makkah and Madinah will be protected by angels, he won't be able to enter them and instead must remain outside in the (Madinah).

Dajjaal will use a variety of methods to try to undermine peoples' faith. There would be mountains of bread with him, according to a blessed Hadees. Everyone else, excluding Dajjaal's followers, will be in terrible difficulty. He will travel in two streams. One of them will be known as Jannah, and the other as Hell. In actuality, the place he will refer to as Jannah is Hell and the place he will refer to as Hell is Jannah. When he gives the command, rain will fall from the sky, and after killing someone, Dajjaal would restore that person back to life in front of onlookers.

Concerned by Dajjaal's mischiefs, believers will flee in great peril and seek refuge in the mountain known as "Jabal-e-Dukhan," but Dajjaal will pursue them and encircle the peak. Believers will face severe hunger and difficulties. Then Allah will send Sayyiduna 'Isa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام. Sayyiduna 'Isa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام will murder Dajjaal at the site of 'Ludd []' and will not leave even one member of Dajjaal's followers alive. As soon as Dajjaal sees Sayyiduna 'Isa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام, Dajjaal will disintegrate like salt dissolves into water.
