Vocal Media vs Medium: In Depth Comparison

Hey there so this blog I will be telling you in-depth about vocal media and medium where you will get to know the pros and cons of both platforms. You must have that thought in mind that weather vocal media or medium benefit you as a beginner and help you making money online while writing blogs. Let's see "Vocal Media Vs Medium: Which Platform Is Best For Making Money for you? "

Now, as I am a writer on both medium as well as vocal media, it serves as a good help in comparing both these platforms. So let's get started watching over both the platforms.

1. User experience

Medium: As I told you before I write on both medium and vocal media actively. With my experience, I love to write on medium because of its easy and light writing editor. It gives us so many options for formatting a text and helps us beautify our blog.

Vocal Media: But the same goes for vocal media. even though vocal media gives us equal options to format our articles as Medium, I find it easy to write it there than vocal media. it can be so because I have recently started writing on vocal media and I am new to this platform.

2. Reading experience

I know this topic focuses on readers more than writers, but this is a key point one should have whenever writing on a platform (as your articles will get read by these readers only).

Medium: Reading on medium is great but because of its irritating paywall, most of the readers prefer to read other blogs than reading on it.

Vocal Media: On the other side, vocal media doesn't have any such pop-ups or paywalls that restrict the reader to read our blogs.

So in this case vocal media definitely wins our hearts.

3. Subscription Fee

Medium: Medium comes with the membership of a monthly payment of $5 and $50 per year. If you are an avid reader on medium the paywalls will force you to buy the subscription, which I guess is not possible for everyone. Its membership enables you to read unlimited articles on medium while some of your portion goes to the writers (that is, we writers).

Vocal Media: Vocal media is a totally free platform for readers that allows you to read quality content for absolutely free. But it does have a subscription called vocal Plus that focuses on creators. (more on this below)

4. Earning on medium vs vocal media as a writer

Medium: Both medium and vocal media girls awesome opportunities to earn as a writer. But if you are a beginner or just starting out I would suggest you writing on vocal rather than on medium.

Vocal Media: If you are a member of vocal Plus, you get access to all the amazing challenges that take place on vocal. You get $3.8/1000 views if you are a regular vocal user whereas vocal Plus pays you $6 per 1000 views, which I guess is a fantastic deal.

5. Vocal media vs Medium: which pays you more?

Medium: Medium pays you on the basis of member reading time of a subscribed medium member. The revenue is calculated on how much time a subscriber has spent on your blog. That means you get paid for views of medium members only and not for free ones.

Vocal Media: Whilst the thing I love the most about vocal media is that you get paid for every single view your blog gets which is a very nice opportunity for everybody.

6. Audience Building

Medium: One thing that I wish Vocal media should have is the feature of community building and following. Medium gives us a huge advantage for audience building as you can follow one another. Moreover, it also enables users to create their own publication which is amazing. Being an optimized website medium helps your blogs rank faster on search engines and you can design your profile the way you want.

Vocal Media: Vocal media have publications too but I can't follow them if I want. I wish vocal media will include this feature in the coming time.

7. Publishing of Articles

Medium: Whenever you write on medium, you have your full rights on it whether it comes to editing your articles as many times as you want or directly publishing the articles on your profile. Your article gets curated too if it is worth sharing that makes it even easier to promote your articles.

Vocal Media: On the other hand, you have to submit your article for review to vocal media editors once you're done writing, and then it gets published. You can't edit your articles after they are published which I want as a feature to be included, as it becomes hard for interlinking of other articles.

Takeaways 🌠

I feel both the platforms have their pros and cons when it comes to making money while writing. Now it depends on you what you choose. For me, I will continue writing on both the platforms vocal media and medium as both are my favorite.

But if you want to get successful anywhere, you have to be consistent. Believe in yourself.

Hi, I write in Vocal for a relatively longer period than in Medium, so I don't know well the second platform, so your information is helpful for me. But I wish to ask you about following - in Vocal you also may subscribe for somebody's posts. May be the difference is that in Medium you can see who follows you, but in Vocal you receive information when somebody had subscribed to you, but there is no way to see who follows you later. Am I right, or there are more differences? About post edition - vocal Plus members have this opportunity, but for some reason they may edit only the text, not to the images and the title. And the payment is higher than in Medium.
