If I’m being honest, I’m tired of writing for platforms, I’m not doing it for the money, but If I’m going to spend hours writing articles, it would be nice to earn more money from them.

I set myself a challenge for September, to publish everyday however, I didn’t achieve that goal. I published 15 articles in September and I didn’t earn very much from them.

However, I still think it’s worth it to publish on Vocal because aside from the money from reads, you can also earn from affiliate commissions and digital product sales.

This is how much I earned in September on Vocal Media:

After publishing 15 articles, and marketing them on Pinterest, I earned a grand total of $33.61.

I could buy coffee for a few days with that money, but it’s nothing to write home about.

With the free account on Vocal, you earn $3.80 per thousand views. Which is actually more than some YouTubers earn. I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday who is based in Ghana and he only earns $1.000 per thousand views, which is definitely not enough, but that's the case because Ghanaian companies pay less for advertising, therefore, you can certainly make more money from content creation in other countries such as the USA.

Here’s how I plan to increase my earnings in October:

  • Publish two pieces a day
  • Share them on Pinterest
  • Share them on Facebook
  • Create YouTube videos based on the articles I’ve published
  • Promote them on Threads and X.
  • Write about popular and trending topics

I want to highlight the power of writing about popular topics:

1. Influence and Change

Inspiring Action: Writing can motivate readers to take action on issues they care about. For instance, powerful narratives can galvanize communities to engage in social justice movements or environmental initiatives.

Shaping Public Opinion: Well-articulated pieces on trending topics can sway public perception and influence policy decisions. Historical examples include influential works that have changed societal views, such as Uncle Tom's Cabin or Silent Spring.

2. Connection and Community Building

Creating Dialogue: Writing about popular topics fosters discussions among diverse groups, allowing for the exchange of ideas and perspectives. This dialogue is crucial in building understanding and empathy across different communities.

Building a Following: Writers who engage with trending subjects often find it easier to build an audience. Readers are drawn to content that resonates with current interests, leading to increased engagement and community formation around shared passions.

3. Personal Growth and Expression

Clarifying Thoughts: Writing about popular topics helps writers articulate their thoughts and feelings, leading to greater self-awareness. By exploring these subjects, writers can refine their beliefs and understand their place within larger societal conversations.

Developing Skills: Engaging with popular topics allows writers to hone their skills in research, argumentation, and narrative construction. This practice not only improves writing quality but also enhances critical thinking abilities.

4. Relevance and Timeliness

Capturing Trends: Writing on current events or popular culture ensures that content remains relevant. This relevance can attract readership and increase the likelihood of the work being shared across platforms.

Utilizing SEO Strategies: Writers can leverage trending topics for search engine optimization (SEO), making their work more discoverable online. This strategy is particularly effective for bloggers and content creators aiming to reach larger audiences.

5. Educational Impact

Raising Awareness: Articles that address popular issues—such as climate change, social justice, or health trends—can educate readers about important topics they may not fully understand.

Encouraging Critical Thinking: By presenting multiple sides of a popular issue, writers can challenge readers to think critically about their beliefs and assumptions.

6. Emotional Resonance

Connecting on a Personal Level: Popular topics often resonate emotionally with audiences, allowing writers to tap into shared experiences or collective concerns. This emotional connection can enhance the impact of the writing.

Fostering Empathy: By sharing personal stories related to broader issues, writers can evoke empathy in readers, encouraging them to consider perspectives outside their own experiences.

Conclusion

Writing about popular topics is a powerful tool for effecting change, fostering connections, promoting personal growth, ensuring relevance, educating audiences, and resonating emotionally with readers. By understanding the dynamics at play when addressing these subjects, writers can harness this power to inspire action and contribute meaningfully to societal discourse.

Thanks for the insight, I only use Pinterest to share my stories, maybe that's why I get 2-3 reads daily with low income.
