The Devil Wears Prada - A Movie Review
'The Devil Wears Prada' is a close look into the fashion industry and exploring one’s career choices.

Careers are important. Always stay true to yourself in your career path.
Walking in through the doors to cinemas, The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 film. With no experience, Andy lands her first job in a fast-paced fashion magazine. Assistant to the demanding Miranda Priestly, Andy is in for the ride of her life.
I watched The Devil Wears Prada years ago. Clearly, I was too young to appreciate this bold film encased with a strong story and ensemble. The Devil Wears Prada is a close look into the fashion industry along with exploring one’s career choices.
Don’t ever cross Miranda Priestly the wrong way. In one of the most iconic roles of her career, Meryl Streep was excellent. Miranda has a hard exterior. Audiences may be turned off by her crass personality and insulting comments, but it’s Streep who has a ball playing the part.
My favorite part of Streep’s performance is Miranda’s inner emotions. Making sure that only she could connect with the character, Streep intimidates you with one look. She even chose to act the part off-camera. On the first day of filming, she complimented Hathaway until resorting to the behavior of her character.
Running frantically in circles, Andy never expected this journey of growth. To prepare for her role, Anne Hathaway volunteered as an assistant in an auction house in order to get a sense of the crazed work field she was entering.
Hathaway stands as an influence to young audiences who are exploring their options in careers. Life after college is tough. We have so many options. Choose wisely. Follow your own path and not someone else’s.
Other credits include Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Adrian Grenier, Simon Baker, Tracie Thoms, Rich Sommer, and more. The cast did a great job of studying the ins and outs of the fashion world. I especially enjoyed Blunt. She has been growing in the acting world with each role that she is given.
One angle of the film that stood out to me were the segments with Andy and her friends. It’s small but it is necessary to make room for friends. Especially relationships. Work is only a small part of life. As soon as that work week ends head out for a night on the town.
Scriptwriters did in-depth research on the fashion industry. It requires you to be on your feet at all times. For anyone who wants to work in the fashion industry, The Devil Wears Prada is a great example of what to expect.
Fashion, hairstyles, and makeup are given notable screen time. For the film, fashion companies let the film exhibit their line of clothes and accessories. The Devil Wears Prada continues to reign as the most expensively costumed film in history!
Another message that comes out of The Devil Wears Prada is to be comfortable with what you wear. We all have our own fashion sense. Never let anyone put you down on what you consider to be fashion.
David Frankel brought out the essential message of how important it is to stick to your own path. Cinematically, The Devil Wears Prada has terrific camera angles. This fast-paced industry is shown in very quick camera pans and montages of fashion.
One of the best angles that Frankel focused on was the impact of our careers. Careers are a journey of their own. Life is filled with changes. Continue to explore your options and don’t make it your life. Enjoy life and live.
The Devil Wears Prada is an entertaining film. I recommend it to anyone who has not seen it. Enjoy the montages of fashion.
