One Hour - An Update
It's been a while... a long while. I originally came across this website after my wife stumbled on it due to a contest that was running. She thinks I'm a talented writer for some reason (ha.) and suggested I look into it. I did, made my submission and the more I looked into this website the more I wanted to continue to submit short stories here. After writing my first I had decided I wanted to write one quick short story each month in addition to all the time I was spending writing my novel.

Lost in the Rhythm of Machines. Top Story - September 2021.
The drone of mechanical tapping fills the back work room. Needle number nine of the Tajima embroidery machine embroiders the neck of a goose caricature on the front of a hat in 853 light brown, going at fifty stitches per minute. In between color changes the local radio talk show filters in from the stereo propped up on a shelf. The hosts end their morning segment before I press the green go button after the machine moves to needle four and begins tapping out the name of the shop the hats are for in a light silver (150).

The Sidekick: Your Hero’s Voice of Reason
Dick Grayson. Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson. Scooby-Doo. Samwise Gamgee. Wong. Jimmy Olsen. They all have one thing in common: they are the sidekicks, the voice of reason to their respective hero…or vigilante in Dick Grayson’s case. These are the close friends of our favorite fictional characters. It is their job to help the main characters see reason. They watch the other’s back. Sidekicks help the reader or viewer discover different aspects of the main character’s personality. They are the ones the main character turns to for advice. Or a good swift kick in the buttocks.
