No sleep till LA:My first cruise on the Sapphire: Part 1
Our 7 day cruise would start from LA, but a fairly shit part of LA where there was not really many places you could get in the time you had ashore bar the now standard shuttlebus to the nearest mall. Therefore my inital excitement at being in LA once a week quickly diminished purely because we didn't have enough time to get anywhere of inportance before we had to go back to the ship. Also we were told don't go further than this block north and this block east (I think) as they were sketchy neighbourhoods, it seemed crazy to me that you could walk a few metres and be in a dangerous place.

Viva Mexico:Spring Break Madness on the Sapphire Princess!
So after a long six month break I was finally back on a ship without a promotion and also knowing I'd be doing Mexico for 2 months before transhipping when the ship went to Alaska, however after my dealings with the office I really had no faith in where I'd be going next.

Adjusting to 'real life' and being messed around by head office
After my 2nd very mixed contract on the Sun as was the standard I felt completely burnt out and had no idea of when, where or if I was coming back for a third contract. Many crew members liken the countdown to the end of a contract like inmates counting the days down till release, yet the irony is within a few weeks of getting home you are already counting the days till your next sentence!

However, in addition to this definition, the special nature of the tourism product requires that it can only be consumed at the place where it is produced.

The Great Barrier Reef
We were into the home stretch on the world cruise and I was like a prisoner counting his days till release, my cabin situation had been sorted and I had blagged my own cabin till the end of my conttract and I was staying far away from most of the photo team drama that seemed to continue on a daily basis.

Hawaii & The Dark Knight
We had a breathaking run through Hawaii on our world cruise hitting ports in Maui, Honolulu & Hilo, and if I'm honest I really couldn't tell them apart except for my day in Honolulu. I was in over the halfway point of the contract and pretty burned out at this point and all I initially remembered from Hawaii was lots of bus rides upto Volcano craters.
