A Week with Flavored Tea Saturday morning carried a chill sharp enough to sting my fingertips. I wrapped both hands around a paper cup of chamomile lavender latte, the heat soaking into my skin. Steam rose in delicate spirals, fogging the windshield as I drove across town. The first sip painted my tongue with lavender, soft and floral, and then honey slipped in, coating everything smooth. Foam left a pale ring on the lid like a soft crown. Could I ever return to plain chamomile again? This felt different, indulgent, almost dangerous. One drink might pull me into a habit I didn’t expect.
