So, You're Quitting Your Job
I QUIT! That’s the one sentence we all scream whether in our minds or sometimes out loud when we have reached our limit at work. The woes of coming to an unfulfilling job each day can and many times is depressing and frustrating. The infamous phrase “Do what you love, and you will love what you do” is all fun and games until you are sitting a desk for nine hours out of the day doing something that you neither love or want to do. So, what’s next? Do you have a plan? If you wrote that resignation letter right now, where are you going once you leave the building? Here are a few things to consider before slapping that note on your boss’ desk and telling them to kiss it!

Being An Actress
I remember the moment I decided I wanted to be an actress. I was walking across the parking lot of my high school after an undoubtedly stellar performance as Portia in an all-girl production of The Merchant of Venice when my father turned to me and said, "Do you think you might want to do this for a living?" At the time I remembered feeling a little insulted. My grades were excellent. Didn't my father think I could be a lawyer or a veterinarian or a psychologist? It wasn't that I didn't love to act, but everyone I knew who wanted to be an actress was either egotistical or unstable. Not that one was mutually exclusive of the other. What did this say about me? No one in my family acted, although my Grandmother often hinted of an unsubstantiated family connection to Hermoine Gingold. Occasionally my parents would take us to see a play or listen to a concert, but only to help make us well-rounded individuals. When someone would go on about the Sound of Music my father would roll his eyes and say, “How can I take a nun singing on hilltops seriously?” And I found myself admitting that he had a point.

My 2021 Writing Goals
Covid, lockdowns, and pandemic aside, 2020 turned out to be a good year for me. When not worrying about things I couldn't change in the wider world at large, I spent a great amount of time writing. At the start of last year I set myself the goal (NOT a resolution!) to write short film screenplay every month, and then towards the end of this year, spurred on by the prompting of a Vocal+ competition, I aimed to write and self-publish a short story compilation.

I'm 27 & Want To Quit My Stable, Well-Paying Job
I went into college not really knowing what I wanted to do with my life. What seemed like the most convenient career path at the time was Dentistry. Okay so you must think I was crazy to think Dentistry was the convenient path for me, but I only felt this way because my dad is an amazing Dentist who I knew could mentor me through schooling. Why it took me three and a half years to finally take the introductory course to Dentistry I don’t know. Two failed attempts at O-Chem and three weeks into this Dental course, I knew at the core of my being that I could not look at teeth for the rest of my life. I learned something else around this time: I am freaking blessed with the most amazing parents. I remember my hands were shaking when I picked up my phone to call my dad to let him know that I was going to change career paths and switch from a Microbiology major to an Exercise Sports Science major my senior year of undergrad. Excuse me?

What To Look For In A Production Worker
When we think about “production,” we should also be thinking about the “product.” Depending on the market, production will be different, as will the requirements for the worker that we choose to work behind the scenes, making sure everything happens as it’s supposed to -- with great quality and optimal fortitude. For the most part, the requirements of a production worker will always be the same. However, because we find ourselves working amongst a variety of niche markets, the actual specifications will vary quite a bit. They also vary, based on department, role, and area of expertise.
