SpaceX's Starship Rocket Suffers Catastrophic Explosion in Test Flight
On April 20, 2023, SpaceX's highly anticipated Starship rocket suffered a catastrophic explosion just minutes into its test flight. The event shocked the world and drew widespread attention on social media and news outlets. The Starship rocket, designed to be a fully-reusable spacecraft, was undergoing a test flight at SpaceX's launch site in Boca Chica, Texas. The launch was planned to reach an altitude of approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) before returning to the launchpad for a soft landing. The test flight appeared to be going well until just over two minutes into the launch when the Starship rocket suddenly exploded in mid-air.
