A New Year

I woke up on January 1st, 2020 and I said "This is going to be my year!" I created a vision board by glueing all of my pictures and goals to a poster. I had just started a new job and graduated college. This was going to be the year that my wildest dreams came true!

Little did I know that I would be living a world-wide pandemic. In March, I found out that there was an illness spreading so rapidly, that the governor was encouraging employees to work from home. Pretty soon the illness became an even bigger threat, and everyone was encouraged to stay inside and isolate. This illness was called the Coronavirus.

Coronavirus in Utah

Living in Utah, this meant that people could still run around outside and continue doing leisure activities as long as you were isolating yourself or six feet away from anyone. This also meant that people were allowed to drive around in their cars and pick up items that they needed.

People were not allowed to stay and hang out in public places, so restaurants and local businesses were offing curbside pickup or free delivery! With less people coming to businesses, that hurt companies financially. Some companies had to lay off employees, and some local businesses were struggling to stay alive!

The Community Comes Together

People quickly realized how this pandemic would effect local businesses, and everyone was and still continues to help companies in need. I think it's beautiful to see how everyone comes together in a time of crisis to support each other. This is the time that humanity and love can shine through!

Ways to Support Local Businesses

The first step you can take to stay positive and support each other during this time is to support your local businesses. If you can, buy their products, order take out, and fundraise money. If you are broke, support businesses by sharing their posts on social media. Social Media can play a huge role in saving a business.

Social Media Can Impact Our Daily Decisions

It's true, we live in a world where social media influences what we want to eat, what clothes we want to wear, and where we buy our products from. Visual marketing such as an advertisement for Coca Cola being poured over ice-cubes in the movie theater can make someone jump out of their seat to purchase one. Visual advertising creates a need! Share, share, share, as much as you can on social media to support your favorite company!

Ivie Juice Bar

I chose to support my favorite local smoothie place, Ivie Juice Bar! I've created this video for them, using Vimeo stock videos, and some of my own personal footage from last year. This video will be submitted into a contest in hope of winning money to support their business.

I chose Ivie Juice Bar, because I love their juice cleanses, smoothies, acai bowls, and their friendly service. There's nothing better than working out, or playing all day in the sun and following it up with a fresh cold smoothie.

I believe Ivie Juice Bar deserves all the local support they can get, because I believe they use ingredients that can fuel your body! I've gone their several times when they've used fresh, seasonal fruit such as the peaches in the video clip I included. Call the nearest Utah location and find out how you support them by ordering curbside pickup. Or check out their social media for more recent updates!
