Summer breaks Kyle's heart on 'The Young and the Restless'

If you are a Skyle you should get out your tissues for Monday's episode of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS because it's a tear jerker. The entire hour revolves around Summer saying goodbye to those she loves in Genoa City and Kyle trying to find her. Summer finds Fatih and Mariah together and lets them know about her plans. Moments later Ms. Copeland calls her Snowflake and says she is selfish. During the course of the hour, Summer sets thing straight with Lauren and reassures her parents Nick and Phyllis. She asks Billy to look out for Kyle then goes to Newman Enterprises where she bids farewell to Victor, Nikki, and Victoria.

This certainly seems as if it is the end but until she boards the Newman jet it's not a done deal. Kyle talked with Jack who told him that things don't always work out the way you want them to. Phyllis later told him to accept that Summer is leaving but he cannot. Kyle then ran into Mariah who began badmouthing Summer. Earlier she had told her BFF's fiancee that she was hoping Skyle would work out this time, Kyle stopped her in her tracks and advised her not to say anything negative about the woman he loves.

When he sees his uncle, Billy advises Kyle that there is still a chance as long as summer has not boarded the jet. Kyle finally catches up with her as she is leaving The Grand Phoenix with Nick who is riding with her on the jet. Summer is crying as she convinces Kyle that there is no chance for them. he is almost in tears as he tells her he loves her and this can work out. The scenes are heartwrenching and to make it worse that sad Y&R theme song is playing in the background.

Meanwhile, back at the Abbott mansion, Jack fills Tara in on the days' events. She says she hopes Kyle will not blame her for Summer leaving and Jack assures her that he will not. The deviousness of this woman is unbelievable and viewers know that she is indeed a big part of the reason that Summer is making her exit from Genoa City. Her accomplice Sally has just been told by Lauren that Summer recommended Ms. Spectra for her vacated position. Sally is stunned but accepts when Lauren tells her that she will be on a trial basis.

Those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS still will not know by the end of Monday's episode if Summer is truly leaving and if she does is it for good or will she return to Genoa City? There is still speculation that Hunter King might be the soap actress revealed in a blind item to be leaving her daytime drama. As of this writing, the person has not been identified and spoilers have not even narrowed it down to which soap opera is involved. king's future with the CBS soap is obviously a closely guarded secret just as is the identity of the actress who is walking away.

As mentioned earlier, watching Summer say her goodbyes all over Genoa City, the music and her unwillingness to yield certainly seems to be final. THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS has a lot of disgruntled viewers because Skyle fans were looking for a happily ever after for Kyle. Would the CBS soap put so much into this one episode if it were not Skyle's swan song? Summer saying farewell to all of her family (except aunt Abby) was touching and seeing a broken-hearted Kyle was pretty troubling.

The fact that Phyllis has resigned herself to this situation and told Kyle Summer is a grown woman speaks volumes. It's as if everyone, except Kyle is happy for her new adventure. Spoilers for next week only indicate that Tara will begin plans to seduce her baby daddy. Nothing is being said about Summer so viewers will have to tune in each day and see what happens. Hopefully, something will stop Sally from claiming Summer's job and Kyle will not fall for Tara's manipulations. Everything was pretty rushed with Summer and this job iffer and that has viewers wondering. If Hunter King's time on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS is over this may be the way the writers are sending her off. If true they did a pretty good job.
