Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9 N.I.V

Many people have this idea, that kindness is dead, that we are all so busy arguing with one another, that we no longer give a second thought to being kind, but despite what others may believe, being kind is part of being a believer, and yes I am aware we are not saved by our deeds, but when we give our hearts to Christ, we want to give, we want to do good for others!

When we turn on the television, to the latest news broadcast, we often become disillusioned, but there’s a way around that, its kindness, the kindness that comes from a changed heart, a changed life in Christ!

So why am I bringing up kindness in this way? Because kindness is still very much a part of my life, I have given kindness, and I have received kindness. I have been blessed through the grace of God, and I have blessed through the Grace of God!

I choose kindness… I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is how God has treated me

A couple of weeks ago, the facilitator of our Women’s Bible Study ran to the office before starting class, coming back with envelopes, one for me to give to my Mother, I put the envelope away, and focused on our lessons in Matthew, not knowing what it could be! Inside someone had placed $750, talk about an unexpected blessings.

Around Christmas I too was blessed with an act of kindness, when one of my fellow Sunday School Teachers handed me a Christmas card, I opened the beautiful card, surprised when a $100 fell out!

Of course not all acts of kindness need to be monetary, allowing someone to go ahead of you in a long line, helping someone carry groceries in, those are all acts of kindness! When one of my nephews was in preschool, I had come over to visit with him, and he had made a little macaroni necklace for me, a small act of kindness from a small boy, but it had the power to shift my mood for the better.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32 NIV

The white binder may not look like something special to you, but to me it is, a friend gave me this binder, a binder that belonged to the daughter she had lost, it was a thoughtful gift, and a way of not only giving me a gift, but of reminding me of my value as a writer, as a person, and most importantly as a child of God!

I know I have brought up small acts of kindness in this, but the truth is I believe even small acts of kindness, have the power to have a huge impact not only on our lives, but the lives of those we bless, through sharing the gifts, the resources the Lord blesses us with.

The idea we live in an unkind world oftem seems true, but there are those who choose to spread kindness, to spread the joy the Lord blessed them/us with. Unexpected blessings that remind us, just how relevant kindness is today, but more impotantly we are living as Jesus would want us to, when we spread acts of kindness around and expect nothing in return.
