Source of Increase

Introduction

In a world where success is often attributed to personal effort, connections, or even luck, it is essential for believers to understand that true increase—lasting, purposeful, and peaceful—comes from God. While hard work is important, the Bible emphasizes that God is the ultimate source of every form of increase—whether spiritual, financial, material, or relational.

1. God is the Ultimate Source

"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase."

– 1 Corinthians 3:6 (NKJV)

Paul acknowledges that although he and Apollos played roles in the growth of the church, it was God who made things grow. This verse highlights a powerful truth: our efforts are only effective when they are aligned with God's grace and timing. You can sow diligently and water consistently, but increase comes only when God commands growth.

Reflection:

Are you trying to force increase in your own strength? Surrender the process to God and trust Him to bring the results in due season.

2. God Gives Power to Get Wealth

"But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth..."

– Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)

This verse was given to Israel as a reminder not to become proud or self-reliant when they experienced abundance. Likewise, we must remember that every talent, idea, opportunity, and open door comes from God. He is not just the one who gives wealth—He gives the ability, wisdom, and strength to obtain it.

Reflection:

Gratitude is the key to maintaining increase. When you acknowledge God as the source, He can trust you with more.

3. God's Blessing Adds No Sorrow

"The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it."

– Proverbs 10:22 (NKJV)

Increase from the world may come with compromise, anxiety, sleepless nights, or broken relationships. But when God blesses, it comes with peace, purpose, and permanence. His blessings are holistic—touching every part of your life without painful side effects.

Reflection:

Are you pursuing increase at the expense of your peace or values? Seek the kind of blessing that only God can give—free of sorrow and full of joy.

4. Faithfulness Prepares You for More

"His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much...’"

– Matthew 25:23 (ESV)

Before God brings increase, He tests us with what we currently have. Stewardship is the bridge to increase. If you manage the “little” with diligence and integrity, God sees you as ready for more. Increase without preparation can be dangerous.

Reflection:

How are you managing your current resources—time, money, influence, and opportunities? Your next level may depend on your faithfulness now.

5. God Provides According to His Riches

"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

– Philippians 4:19 (NKJV)

God is not limited by your job, the economy, or the opinions of others. His supply comes from His infinite riches, not the world's limited resources. That means when He increases you, it can come from unexpected places and in supernatural ways.

Reflection:

Stop limiting God to your salary or background. He has more than enough to meet your needs—and even bless you to be a blessing to others.

6. Obedience Unlocks Blessings

"If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land."

– Isaiah 1:19 (NKJV)

God desires to increase His children, but it is often linked to our obedience. When we follow His instructions—whether in tithing, giving, forgiving, or serving—we open the door to divine blessings.

Reflection:

Is there an instruction from God you’ve been delaying? Obedience is often the key that unlocks your next level.

Conclusion: Anchor Your Trust in God

Everything may change—people, positions, and possessions—but God remains constant. When you make Him your source, you tap into a flow of increase that is steady, secure, and sustainable.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…”

– Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all you could ask or imagine. That is the God of increase.
