Give God Glory for Your Increase
“Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us.”
— Psalm 67:5-6 (NKJV)
Introduction
Increase is something we all desire. Whether it's financial breakthrough, spiritual growth, promotion in career, expansion in ministry, or even fruitfulness in family—growth is a blessing. However, as children of God, we must understand where the increase comes from and how we respond to it. The proper response to increase is not pride or self-reliance, but gratitude and glory to God.
1. Recognize God as the True Source of Increase
No matter how skilled, educated, or connected we are, the power to increase comes from God. Everything we have is by His grace.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…”
— James 1:17 (NIV)
“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:7 (NIV)
In this life, people often take credit for their own success. But Scripture warns us not to forget that it is God who enables us to increase.
“But remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth…”
— Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV)
God wants us to work hard, but He also wants us to always remember that it is His blessing that brings increase. To glorify God is to acknowledge Him in all your ways (Proverbs 3:6).
2. Glorifying God Keeps Us Grounded
One of the dangers of increase is pride. The more we have, the easier it is to forget who gave it. This is why glorifying God for your increase is essential—it keeps your heart humble and your spirit aligned with Him.
“Your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt…”
— Deuteronomy 8:14 (NIV)
King Nebuchadnezzar learned this the hard way (Daniel 4). When he failed to give glory to God for his power and success, he lost everything—until he lifted his eyes to heaven and glorified God.
“At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High…”
— Daniel 4:34 (NIV)
Glorifying God protects us from the illusion of self-sufficiency and reminds us that we are stewards, not owners of what we have.
3. Your Increase is for His Glory
God doesn’t increase you just for you—it’s always for a greater purpose. When He blesses you, it’s to be a blessing.
“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
— 2 Corinthians 9:11 (NIV)
Your success is a testimony of God’s faithfulness. When you share what God has done, you’re glorifying Him and encouraging others.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
— Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
When you give God glory for your increase, it turns your blessing into a testimony, and your life into a beacon of His grace.
4. Praise Unlocks Even More Increase
It’s a spiritual principle: when we praise and glorify God, it opens the door to even more blessings.
“Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. Then the earth shall yield her increase…”
— Psalm 67:5-6 (NKJV)
God responds to a thankful heart. A heart full of praise invites His presence, and in His presence, there's fullness of joy and provision (Psalm 16:11).
Never stop thanking Him—even after you’ve received what you prayed for. Praise is not just for the waiting room; it belongs in the celebration too.
“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
— Psalm 34:1 (KJV)
Conclusion: Return the Glory
God is glorified when we use our increase to worship Him, bless others, and reflect His character. Let every breakthrough, every testimony, and every new level you reach point back to Jesus.
Don’t just enjoy the fruit—return the glory to the One who gave the seed, the sun, and the rain.
Prayer
Father, thank You for every increase You’ve brought into my life. I acknowledge You as the source of all blessings. Help me to stay humble, grateful, and generous. May everything I gain bring glory to You and be used for Your Kingdom. I give You all the glory, honor, and praise. In Jesus’ name, amen.
