Be in the Know about "Perception Culture"

As individuals, we have been taught that our attitude dictates our altitude but this is not necessarily true. A major factor in ascending or “altituding” in organisations are “other peoples’ perceptions of us”. Perceptions build, but could destroy, strengthen or breaks down. Do not be caught off guard. get in the know. How to address "culture perception" is vital to your personal development and is also the most important knowledge needed to successful navigate the business world.
It has been said that all one needs to succeed is an education and a good attitude to work; and, we will hit the jackpot to success. However, this is may not be entirely true. With experience, one will realize that people’s perceptions dictate the culture of an organization and in many cases opportunities for ascension. I have tried many approaches to concertize good attitude and behaviors to reach “altitudeness” in new organizations; such as being the silent serious type, being the very energetic type or being the happy and helpful type; none of which worked. Knowledgeable authenticity is what it is all about. Why did my approaches fail? The failed because I did not factor into my approach the perceptions that support the culture in those organisations. What does perception culture have to do with an organization? It dictates the norms, values, belief system and behaviors of the workers in that circle. Therefore, if you go into an organization that seems to have issues with staff autonomy and freedom, don’t start throwing ideas around; as brilliant as you are, please wait. Get to know the culture and thoughts that sustain it or you will be rejected. For good sake, be insightful and coy when asking questions. Remember in most cases you will not be handed the simplest maladjustment of truths of the organisation on a platter, nor will the other staff give you the scoop of things in your first weeks there.Alas, be cognizant that other staff members will be watching and you are creating your footprint.
The most important challenge regarding perception culture that you should focus on is how you enter a new organization. As I was told, “this will dictate most of your "altitudness" through out your organization life. I have walked into organizations without owning a car and failed to get the respect of managers. I have gone into companies studying and also failed to get that respect that I believe I deserve. Why did this happen? I was not perceived to have attained the necessary skills sets to advance in that culture prior to my entry there; when all that this meant was for me to handle the perception culture. Therefore, when studying or self actualizing it maybe necessary to move on to another place of work after under going career development or career change. If your culture investigations reveal perception difficulties move to where you will be appreciated. You have heard the statement “a prophet is not welcomed in his own country”. People will fail to perceive the levels that you have attained and not adjust their attitudes to the improved you. Therefore, do adjust you self away from that environment. If you stay, make and hit bold job targets. Put to life the saying, “action speaks louder than words”.
Self actualization is a choice you make. Out grow your coworkers’ perception of you or look to move on; support your new launching and thrive. Doing those, little things will enhance your perception of you and focus the light on your development; which is “number one to you”. Again, if you have entered a new organization, seek to get to know the culture of that organization. Remember that other staff members are watching. Don’t run off and become a smarty pants, take your time; if you are brilliant no doubt in time others will come to know that. Above all else, get to know someone in that organization who will guide or mentor you through your decisions and conjugate your thoughts to the navigation of that organization’s culture.
