Seth Godin, The Marketing Guru Every Marketer Should Know!

One of the most famous marketers in the world is an author. His name is Seth Godin, and you can learn a lot from his books. If you are interested in marketing your business or promoting your personal brand, then I would suggest you read one( or all)of these books by Seth Godin.
“The Purple Cow”
The first book that I have chosen to talk about is “The Purple Cow.” This book teaches that being different will help your business grow because it makes you stand out more. It also illustrates how ordinary things are invisible compared to extraordinary ones, so extraordinary things should be made visible by doing something special with them. Here are some lessons that can be learned from this book:
1) Stand Out!
So many people believe that the best way to market their business is by having a flashy website or a unique product. That may be true, but it is not the most effective way. You should aim to stand out from your competition and become a purple cow instead of blending in with all the other cows on the farm. However, being different isn’t enough. Your products must also be high quality so they don’t break easily and need to stay relevant as time passes by.
2) Make Yourself Visible!
In order for your customers to find you, you have to make yourself visible! There are two ways that you can do this:
1) Create visibility by being remarkable- Doing something special that gets people talking about you. In addition, it also has to be useful for people and if your product is something unique, then it will make more of an impression on people.
2) Be remarkable by being frequently found- You can do this by creating a website or blog that allows you to share new content frequently with potential customers. Websites such as WordPress allow you to create a blog on the same domain as your business’s website, so there is less effort required on your part! When you have a blog, you should update it often and post articles mentioning special offers or new products that may interest readers.
Another lesson that can be learned from “The Purple Cow” is how important online reviews are for your business. In this book, Godin explains that these reviews are especially important for businesses that offer a service as opposed to just selling a product. Since you can’t hold your customers’ hands and show them how the product works, they have to be able to rely on other people’s experiences with your business instead. This is why it’s important to make yourself visible online and interact with users by responding to their comments and questions!
“All Marketers Are Liars”
Another of Seth Godin’s books is entitled “All Marketers Are Liars.” The theme of this book is how marketing consists of making stories about the products we sell in order to get people interested in them. Here are some examples:
1) Apple tells us that the Macintosh was designed by artists, not engineers.
2) The Jeep was created during World War II as a replacement for horses.
3) Coca-Cola is bottled in many different places around the world.
4) Viagra was originally developed to treat heart conditions.
These are all examples of how businesses make stories about their products in order to create a connection with their customers. When you are marketing your business, it is important to think about the story that you want to tell and how you can make your product sound more appealing. However, it is also important to be honest with your customers and never lie about your product!
“The Dip”
The next book that I would like to talk about is called “The Dip,” and it discusses the hardships that businesses face in becoming successful. In this book, Godin talks about how winners often win by not losing- They make a choice to quit something when they come across a sign that tells them that continuing will be unrewarding or difficult. Here are some lessons from the book:
1) Quit at the right time!
2) Be willing to take risks!
3) Don’t be afraid of failure!
The first lesson is about knowing when to give up on pursuing a goal. If you have been building your business for five years and things aren’t going anywhere, then maybe it’s time to consider doing something different with your life. The second lesson is about being willing to take risks in order to achieve your goals. This means that you may have to invest money into your business or put yourself out there in order to get the results that you want. The third lesson is about not giving up after one failure. Every business goes through difficult times and it’s important to be persistent in order to succeed!
“Tribes”
The last book that I would like to talk about is called “Tribes.” In this book, Godin discusses how the internet has changed the way that people interact with each other. He explains how people are no longer interested in following the orders of others, but instead they want to be a part of a community that shares their same interests. Here are some lessons from the book:
1) Create a community around your product or service!
2) Identify the leaders of your community!
3) Serve your community members!
The first lesson is about how it’s important to create a community around your product or service in order to connect with potential customers. This can be done by setting up a website or blog where people can share their thoughts and experiences. The second lesson is about identifying the leaders of your community so that you can provide them with special treatment. These people are often the ones who are most active on your website or blog and they can help to spread the word about your business. The third lesson is about serving your community members by providing them with valuable content and helpful resources. If you can make your community feel special, then they will be more likely to buy from you!
