Novak Djokovic, born in '87, is a total legend in the world of tennis - widely recognized as one of the best to have ever played. Here's what you should know about Novak Djokovic:
1. Djokovic has achieved great success in Grand Slam tournaments, winning a remarkable amount of titles throughout his career. As of September 2021, he had won a massive 20 Grand Slams - nine at the Australian Open, three at Wimbledon, two at the US Open and one French title. Impressive stuff!
2. Djokovic has conquered the Career Grand Slam - winning each of the major tennis championships. He's truly a champ. Djokovic joined Rod Laver and Roy Emerson as one of the only three male players to ever reach the Career Grand Slam when he won the French Open in 2016.
3. Djokovic has been the number one player for a while now - his weeks at the top of the world rankings have really added up. Last I checked, he had held the ATP World No. 1 ranking for a record-breaking amount of time, beating out Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal's previous record.
4. Wow! Djokovic has some seriously impressive seasons under his belt, smashing records left and right. Back in 2015, he totally dominated the tennis world, taking home three of the four Grand Slam titles and even managing to get to the finals of the remaining one. He was on an absolute tear during that season, with a streak of 31 wins.
5. Olympic Success: While Djokovic has had tremendous success in Grand Slam tournaments, an Olympic gold medal has eluded him. As of my knowledge cutoff, he had won a bronze medal in singles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a bronze medal in doubles at the 2012 London Olympics.
