Even though I vanished for a few weeks in January.

First off, I just wanted to start this entry off by saying that I spent most of this month off of Vocal. I can't totally identify whether it was stress, focusing more on school, or prioritizing a new business idea, but either way I'm back to Vocal for now.

No guarantees I won't disappear again, but it certainly won't be for good. I really like Vocal even though I may need breaks from it sometimes.

Besides my break, I spent a lot of time this month developing a business concept that I've been refining for a while, which I'll be discussing in this post.

As part of the routine for this series, here are three milestones I've met this month.

First, I learned how to properly organize a concept, which is something I've never been very good at.

I tend to be very messy with my ideas. Notebooks, sticky notes, random notes in my phone, and all of them sort of make a rough draft. But they've never really pieced together to make anything outside of my own mind. This makes my ideas incredibly difficult to present to others.

Fortunately, with a little motivation and self-guidance, I learned how to formally (and neatly) compile my ideas so they're actually comprehensible. I'm really happy that I was able to learn this skill because I think it'll help me greatly throughout my life.

Second, I finally have an idea all put together, and it feels wonderful. It's not just unfinished anymore.

Although I won't reveal too much to ensure that my idea is safe, I went through all the necessary phases to fully develop my idea. Executive summaries, business plans, several drafts, character descriptions, slogans, logos, everything. I got super focused and stuck to my goals. Because of this, I now have my idea completely formed to be presented and shared.

I have a whole business together and the only thing keeping it from really existing is money. I hope I can save enough to really start this business someday soon, and I'll be trying my best to do so.

Finally, I am going to start experimenting with a medium that I have never done before: children's books.

This ties directly into my business idea. I had all these characters that were nothing more than a draft in a notebook. Then, when I shared my idea with someone close to me, they suggested that I make children's books to send my message without the extreme cost of the whole business right away.

This way, I can use the potential profits from these stories to not only make my characters reputable before my business is formed to build excitement and trust, but I will be able to save up the profits to form the original business. I'm so grateful that I got this advice because it seems like picture books really will become the foundation of my career along with writing here on Vocal.

My next steps will likely be trying to balance this newly formed idea along with Vocal. I would much prefer a healthy balance between the two rather than one being abandoned and one being added on to all the time.

Although it's messy, being a business owner and a writer is a career I'd choose a million times over. I love what's in store for my future. I've said this many times before, and I'll continue to say it until my future becomes my reality.
