My Battle Against The Flu
Weekend February 2, 2024
Friday, January 31, 2024. I went to an appointment. The driver that drove me to my appointment was John. You can smell smoke upon entering the cab. I know with my allergy I am going to get my allergy attack.
No Worries, I took my allergy pill before leaving my place. The same driver picked me up from the appointment. He kept missing the exits. Thank God, I knew there would be more than three exits that could still be used.
I was already feeling dizzy from all the smoke smell in the cabin of the taxi. I spoke up when we got close to the last possible exit to my home. He assured me he was not going to miss it and that he was a great driver. I finally arrived home.
I check my fridge for food that is friendly to my stomach and make sure I have the right liquid food. My emergency stomach food is baby food stage one. To avoid being hospitalized, I buy food that will keep me feeling light or eat one meal a day.
I went to the grocery and bought things needed for when I need to be stuck in the house because of any illness. It was over a hundred dollars when everything was said and done.

I can predict when I will be sick. I got all my emergency medications and Got my Covid shot. I did not take the flu shot because I had the flu before and ended up having to get antibiotics because the fever and chills lasted weeks on end.
Saturday, February 1, 2025, was very productive. Got my W2 and tax information together in a folder. Why it took me an hour? Don't ask. lol
I also did some of my online training, which is supposed to take six months to complete. I push through the tiredness feeling. I got a lot accomplished by 7 pm. I took a shower and went straight to bed without any interest in watching anything on TV.
My appointments for the following were set and planned a week ahead of time. I got sick on Sunday, February 2, 2025. appointments had to be rescheduled, and all plans had to be changed on Monday morning, February 3, 2025.

February 2, 2025, Sunday
I woke up with a sore throat. I started coughing. I still took my allergy pill even if I knew it would not stop this cough. I made my family rice, ginger, and chicken soup recipe. I threw it up within fifteen minutes of eating it.
I took my prescribed nasal spray medicine. Otherwise, I would be coughing for months on end.
I drank 1/4 of the Ensure, and I took my first defense, Airbourne chew. Tomorrow was going to be the first day for the Tax Volunteer. I knew it was not going to happen. There were too many health concerns in the way for that.
I was stuck in the bed. I had to wear Depends in case I had issues. I called my Dad for his birthday, which was a big mistake when I was feeling under the weather. My brother's birthday was Monday, I called him before my father. He was more pleasant to talk to.
The nasal spray made me drowsy, I fell asleep for a few minutes. I was getting the chills. I put more blankets over the ones I had. Ate some baby food(Sweet Potatoes) to keep me hydrated.
Put some calming music on. I suck some Chloraseptic for my cough and sore throat. 30 minutes later, I took a quick shower and almost fell in the process. I was feeling really awful, and I had an appointment the next day. I took my temperature at 101.4. Time for Tylenol PM.
I woke up at 11 pm and still had a fever and cough. Took another round of medication, this time regular Tylenol. I still had the chill. I buddle up in bed coming in and out of sleep. My Air Purifier was on high.

The alarm woke me up at 5:15 am. My body felt like it weighs a ton. It was so hard to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. I took a sip of water by my bed. I took my temperature, it was 101.3. Took another Tylenol.
I was still planning to go to my appointment. I still had the Chill 30 minutes later. I went online to try to cancel my appointment, but there was no cancellation feature on the day of the appointment. I send a message instead. Cancel my scheduled ride. I sleep all day.

The Chill and fever were gone, but my body felt weak. I spent all day trying to replished my energy back. I cleaned myself up and took a bath because of my back pain from lying in bed too long. I did my laundry after that, I was done and out of energy.
I am still coughing a little now, but no fever. The only thing that makes me drowsy is the Nasal Spray. I stay away from the bed during the day.
I spent my Flu at home, not in the Hospital waiting room. That's a smart move on my part.
If I felt I was too dehydrated, I would gone to the hospital for an IV. I made sure I had everything I needed to keep me hydrated.

Thank you for sharing this, Mariann!❤️So glad you are better! I have allergy to smoke and it is not a good one to have. Then there is pets. My worst as everyone has pets. Next worse is beef. No cheeseburgers! I could go on, but that is enough.😉🥰
This brief narrative captures a moment of discomfort and persistence. The writer's vulnerability to smoke due to allergies is contrasted with their proactive response, taking an allergy pill before the trip. Very interesting story.
I hope you're okay. I see it's been almost a month since you've published anything. I'm finding this story nearly a month after you posted it. I feel so bad for you. Sending Love, Light, and Healing Energy from Indiana. ⚡💙⚡
