Introduction

A blog is a great way to build your brand and earn credibility as an expert in your field. If you're planning on creating a professional blogging business, it's important that you take these steps to ensure the success of your venture:

Branding the blog

When it comes to building your brand, the first step is to think about what you want your readers to know about you. This can include things like your business and personal background, as well as what makes you special compared to other bloggers.

As a blogger who has been blogging for years now, I understand that there are many ways in which we can brand our blogs--and while some people choose traditional logos or stickers on their websites with no other branding design involved at all (which is perfectly fine if that suits their needs), others may prefer something more creative or unique.

Creating a website

Creating a website is the first step toward creating a professional blog, and it's important to do so. A website can be used for many different things:

  • To showcase your work and connect with potential clients.
  • To host online services or products (like consulting services).
  • To promote yourself as an expert in your field.

A well-designed website should have all the information you need about who you are, what you do and how to contact you at all times. It should also include links back outwards from each page of content so that visitors can easily find other pages on the site if they want more details about something specific within its contents (for example: "Click here for more information about this topic").

Choosing your hosting platform

Choosing your hosting platform is a big decision, so it's important to choose one that will meet your needs. You want a service that is easy to use and has a good reputation.

Make sure the platform offers good support--a customer service team ready to help you when you need it most! Look for features like:

  • Multiple domains (or subdomains)
  • Email accounts with POP3 access
  • Selecting the right domain name

Once you've decided on a blog's name, it's time to select a domain name. A domain name is the address that users type into search engines like Google when looking for your content.

For example, if you have a website called "Wedding Bloggers Guide," then people will type weddingsbloggersguide.com into their browsers -- which isn't very intuitive or user-friendly!

The best thing about selecting a domain name is that it's important for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes and even branding yourself as an expert in your industry/topic area by using words related to what makes up our profession (like wedding planning).

There are many factors we should consider when choosing a domain:

Is it easy for people who don't know me well enough yet? Because this could mean someone coming across my site while researching something else entirely unrelated (e.,g., planning an upcoming vacation), they wouldn't understand why I would choose such an unmarketable one-syllable word like "planning" instead of something more descriptive like "traveling."

It also doesn't help if there aren't any other related words available either--for example: travel+planning vs planning+traveling = bad idea!

Choosing a CMS (Content Management System) platform

Choosing a CMS (content management system) platform is one of the most important decisions you can make for your blog. A great CMS will help you build out your website, set up social media accounts and integrate with other platforms like email marketing software or analytics tools.

The first step in choosing a CMS is to determine what features you need before diving into which one. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Will my audience expect me to use this particular platform? If so, then it's important that they can find everything easily when they visit my site--no matter what browser they're using or device they're on at the time (e.g., desktop computer vs mobile phone).

This means making sure all pages have easy-to-use navigation menus; providing clear instructions on how visitors should interact with content within those pages; and ensuring that every piece of information available through each page lives somewhere else so users can easily navigate from one piece of content onto another without having trouble finding their way around through multiple screens."

Setting up your blog's URL structure

The URL structure is the most important part of your blog's branding. It's how people find you, and it can make or break your success as a blogger.

There are several options for creating a clear, concise URL structure for your blog:

A root domain name (the topmost part) that points directly to all pages on the site; this is usually short and easy to remember and spell out in text

A subdomain name (e.g., mysite) that contains all relevant info about what goes on at this site in one place--like keywords, categories, tags--and leads directly into content pages; this makes it easier for search engines like Google to crawl through their indexing methods because they know exactly where they need go when they find something related online

Registering social media accounts for your blog and business

Registering social media accounts for your blog and business is another way to stay connected with your audience. By using a variety of platforms, you can connect with people on their terms, not yours.

Social media allows you to reach out directly with photos, videos, and posts about what's going on in your life as well as behind-the-scenes looks at how things work at home or at work--all while making sure that what you share is genuine and authentic!

And when it comes time for someone else to follow along (i.e., share), they're going to see what kind of content stands out from the crowd:

something interesting enough that they want more information; something helpful enough that they'll want recommendations from others like themselves who have already done similar things; or maybe even just an old friend who needs some cheering up after a tough day...

Conclusion

These are just some of the steps that you can take to start developing an online presence for your business or blog. The key is to start small and build from there.
