Let's start again

A new blog

Our first Christmas in our home

So, according to my publishing history, I last posted a piece here 2 years ago. Since then, so much has happened in my life, and I stopped and thought this morning before I set off to meet my fiancé before then heading for work, a lot has happened in those 2 years.

It was as I was sat looking through the comments on my latest Instagram post last night, that I came across a company that said (and I'm paraphrasing here since I can't copy and paste the comment) "really enjoyed your blog, we are a young person support platform... who write blogs that provide support for young people..." The comment then encourages me to check out their website. To be fair as I sipped my coffee I did check out their website, and to give them credit, it does touch on a lot of issues that face the young people of today. It's then that I remembered I had an account on this website and thought "so much has happened in the two years since I lasted posted The Tale of the Monster Hunters Pt. 3 that maybe I should write about my own adventures/problems/near enough day to day life, because so much has happened since then, it might be able to help somebody.

Now, if you've made it this far (congratulations) I shall now start from the beginning.

Two years ago, but call it 3 I was recently graduated and living in Burnley with my fiancé, his mum and dad and their two dogs. Don't get me wrong, it was lovely living there, and I got a lot of bonding time with my future in laws that I hadn't had previously. It was however quite daunting. I was a recent graduate and besides living at university, this was my first proper time living away from home. So there was the sadness of leaving my family permentantly with only seeing them briefly in either weekend visits or day trips for a few hours. There was then also the pressure and stress of finding a job, and luckily I found a temporary one near enough straight away, which ended after two and a half weeks because they no longer needed me. But it seemed that no matter how many jobs I applied for, nobody wanted a recent graduate. Then the guilt set in on being more dependent on my fiancé, and he too was only working long weekend shifts as bar and wait staff, as well as the cost of running a car. I was crushed and considered selling my engagement ring just to make money, with the phrase "we need the money more than I need a ring."

Luckily I got a break. I applied for a teaching assistant job, and after passing my functional skills in English and Maths I found that there were no TA jobs in Burnley. And that was after applying to literally every primary school in Burnley. Then, talking to my fiancé one day he suggested that I apply to a nursery. So I did. I then went for a job interview and job trial, and after a week of stress biting my nails I found out I'd got the job. Yey me! So I started working towards my Level 2 qualification to become a nursery assistant. At the same time my fiancé applied for a job with the MoD. After a long process he got accepted and began his training. This was hard, he was away training down South and I was left up in Burnley living with his mum and dad. It was a struggle, the feeling of being alone when you are surrounded by future family and working towards a qualification. It was at this time a colleague suggested I go to a doctors because I might have depression. Of course, me being me, I laughed it off and said it was just stress and mood swings and I carried on.

It was in the new year when I found out that we would be moving down South to Plymouth. It was a decision we both made together, and when you say it with ages to go, it seems like forever away. My fiancé took time out of training to go down to Plymouth to find us a place to live from the (what seemed like) millions of links I sent him with flats and houses. He then found us a beautiful flat (where I write to you now) and I came down South to find a job. I had made several phone calls and got myself interviews at nurseries, and with where the flat was located, it was the ideal spot to walk in, which meant no spending monthly money on a bus pass. I went for the interviews and got offered the one that was located perfectly to our home. Things were finally looking up...
