Hospitality
More often than not, I feel like people who work in hospitality deserve medals. Not only because of the physical demands of ten-hour shifts but also the surprisingly high concentration of assholes in this industry. This excerpt comes from the resignation email I sent to a well-known, London-based, Australian brasserie that is supposed to be an ethical and laid back place. Right.

Are Social Media Influencers the New Actors?
Once upon a time, movie stars used to rule Hollywood. When a film needed promotion, they'd appear in newspaper articles, magazine spreads, talk shows, etc. Although not much was really known about their personal lives (thanks to a team of crafty publicists), their fans still went to see each new film. Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis, Denzel Washington, Sandra Bullock—the list goes on and on.

Tell-Tale Signs Your Boss Wants You to Quit
Every single person out there has experienced stressful days, weeks, or months at work. There are no jobs in existence that don’t have stress attached to them, and while it’s normal to have a rare day when you end up crying, you may need to think twice about seeing this as par for the course if it’s happening too often.

How To Survive as A Low Income Person
Somehow, on an income of six hundred or more, I survive as a low-income person. I manage to save $100 a month, give or take what I have left. I’m trying to save more money this year and to make more money. I used to have incremental spending, which meant to spend gently around a certain amount like $600, then $500, then $400, etc. I need a part-time job by now to pay for extra expenses like therapy. I’m glad my schizophrenia is finally treated long enough for me to be able to keep it together at work. I’m looking for work in freelance article writing as well as writing copy. It might be time to take my skill into some company out there.

The Wedding Planner's Wedding
If you are someone who, at any point in your life, has thought about what to spend the rest of it doing, I'm sure you have heard something similar to or along the lines of "doing what you love hardly makes it seem like work." Everyone has heard this at one time or another, even if you are someone like myself who has known exactly what you wanted to be when you grew up from a very young age.

McDonald's: Closing Shift
It’s five minutes until closing time. It’s dead silent, you’re alone up in front, and there isn’t a customer in sight. I guess can start closing up, you think cheerfully. You turn your back for not even a split second, and THEY come in. THEY being a large group of late night college kids, hungry from traveling to see a game. This is the worst group of customers you will ever experience, and they always come right before close. They are the loudest, messiest, most obnoxious group on the face of this earth.

The Dreaded No-Show Client
So your 11 AM client didn't show? It's 11:15 AM. You have been polite and given them the 15 minute leeway. But you already have that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. So you make the call, no answer. You knew this was how it was going to happen. Come on, don't kid yourself here. So when you get to lunch you do the morning round up, and you construct the obligatory text message to the missing client.
