The Road to Becoming a Firefighter
If my friends and family know anything about me, it's that I am the type of person that does not take no for an answer. My entire life I have been told that I am not smart enough, strong enough, fast enough, even pretty enough to do the things that I have set my mind to and accomplished. I've been told I am too small, too cute, not assertive enough, etc. The funny thing is, I was previously Law Enforcement and, to be honest, most LEOs are Type A personality type of people. While ditching the uniforms is a great way to boost morale in more casual restaurants, there are some aspects of a kitchen dress code that should always be up to par, whether you’re running a fine dining establishment or a small diner in the heart of downtown.

Small Town Model in a Big City
I never thought I would've had the opportunity to model as a teen. As a teenage girl, I was obsessed with Tyra Banks' America's Next Top Model. I was always fantasizing about getting paid to wear such luxurious art pieces in exotic locations I can't even pronounce. Part of the reason why I never thought I was good enough to be a model, came from the opinions of other people. In elementary school, I grew up in the inner city school district. Girls would often tease me for my "proper accent" and my skin eczema. I even remember a boy tried to beat me up on the playground. It got so bad to the point where my mom had to take me out of the district. I spent a year going to school in Kansas. I had never felt so out of place before.

How to Deal with Communication Barriers?
The human civilization thrives on communication. But while it may seem like an easy task, as we’ve been doing it since we’re able to talk, it is commonplace, to have communication barriers that can cause serious issues, such as lack of confidence, and misunderstanding, even in the modern times when technology seems to be aiding and enhancing communication.
