I’m Going Back to Full-Time Employment

Full-time employment, part-time content creation

I never thought I’d say this because I’ve always been someone who prefers to have my freedom however, I’m tired of chasing the views and creating content day in, day out. I’ve been blogging for more than a decade now and I’ve traveled the world, I’ve purchased houses, cars, and sent my son to an online private school. However, I’m done with it now. It’s getting old.

This is more stressful than a full-time job, and you can go from earning $10,000 a month to earning pennies in a heartbeat. So, with that being said, I’m throwing in the towel to focus on working full time as a software engineer.

I get the freedom of working from home, but I don’t have to stress about where my next paycheck is coming from.

I’m always going to write content, create videos, courses, and e-books, but I’ll never go back to doing it full-time. I’m tired.

The truth is, content creators such as Dough Dash on YouTube make you feel like quitting your job to focus on YouTube or blogging, but it’s not that simple. It’s risky. You could go from earning $9,000 in your second month monetized as Dough Dash did, to earning $2000 or less.

Creators like Dough Dash and Peach Mcintyre produce content daily to get their monthly paycheck, but it’s stressful. What happens when you stop pumping out content? What then? You become irrelevant.

In my opinion, the best way to make money as a creator is to produce evergreen content. When you post daily vlogs about your life, you have to keep pumping out content. However, if you take your time to create educational content that stands the test of time, you’ll build a long-term, sustainable income.

I’m working on producing more evergreen content for my blogs because that’s always the best way to go when it comes to creating online content, and it’s served me well over the years, but I’m tired of grinding non stop to make a living. I’d rather work Monday to Thursday as a software engineer and earn my monthly paycheck without having to market my content, and constantly come up with content ideas, which is tiring in itself.

Where do I publish now?

At the moment, I’m not publishing on Medium, they have a habit of suspending accounts for no good reason. I’m publishing on several blogs, and I’m on YouTube, I’m building several faceless channels over there, but I mostly focus on my main two channels.

My goal for 2025 is to produce at least one piece of long form content on Vocal per week, two pieces of long form content on my YouTube channels each week, and one piece on my blogs. I’m working on two blogs at the moment, although I have several more.

Making money online is not for the weak, so don’t let anyone make you feel like it’s easy, because it’s not. Yes, thinking positive and believing you can achieve it is half the battle, but you must put in hours and hours of work, and if you’re not careful, you might go insane.

I’ve been through some really dark times as a creator, and people rarely talk about the dark times that we as creators go through, they just highlight the frilly parts, and honestly, I’m done pretending that it’s all peaches and cream, because it’s not.

I will continue to create content and encourage others to do the same, but I refuse to pretend as if everything is easy, all the time. I will produce more content here, and my goal is to create and publish more poetry here as well, but I’m never going full-time as a creator again.

Good luck to all the full-time creators out there, but it’s not for me.

Peace and blessings to you
