I Almost Gave Up...
A Lesson on Persistence

I Almost Gave Up
Starting a business is exciting, but let’s be honest—it’s also frustrating, exhausting, and sometimes downright discouraging. When you’re putting in the work, trying to build something meaningful, and facing roadblock after roadblock, it’s easy to wonder, Is this even worth it?
I know that feeling all too well.
At first, everything seems promising. You dive in, full of energy, mapping out plans, researching strategies, and maybe even making a little progress. But then reality hits. Progress slows. The engagement isn’t there. The results don’t come as quickly as you expected. It’s in those moments—the ones where you feel like no one is watching, no one is listening, and nothing is working—that giving up seems like the logical choice.
But here’s the truth: those moments are the turning points.
I almost gave up so many times. Whether it was frustration over slow growth, feeling overwhelmed by technology, or just doubting whether I had what it took to succeed, there were plenty of times when quitting felt like the easiest option. And honestly, no one would have blamed me. But then, something happened.
One small breakthrough.
Maybe it was a message from someone saying they found value in what I was sharing. Maybe it was my first sale. Maybe it was realizing that the people who seem to “make it” aren’t necessarily the most talented or the luckiest—they’re just the ones who refuse to quit.
That moment shifted everything for me. It reminded me that success isn’t about never feeling discouraged; it’s about pushing through despite the discouragement. It’s about making adjustments instead of making excuses.
If you’re in that place right now—on the edge of quitting, feeling like all your work isn’t paying off—I want to encourage you. You’re not alone, and your hard work isn’t wasted. The people you admire, the ones who have built successful businesses, they’ve all been exactly where you are. The difference? They kept going.
One thing that helped me was shifting my perspective. Instead of looking at each setback as a failure, I started seeing them as feedback. If something wasn’t working, I adjusted. If growth was slow, I focused on consistency instead of speed. If doubt crept in, I reminded myself why I started in the first place.
Another thing? Community. Surrounding myself with people who understood the journey—people who had been there and pushed through—made all the difference. That’s one of the reasons I started Mom’s Passive Paycheck. I wanted to create a space where moms (and anyone else looking to build something meaningful) could find encouragement, strategies, and real talk about what it takes to build an income from home. It’s a reminder that even in the toughest moments, you’re not alone.
So, if you’re feeling stuck, if you’re ready to throw in the towel, here’s my challenge to you: Give it one more day. And then another. And another. Take a step back, reassess, tweak your strategy if you need to—but don’t quit. Your breakthrough could be just around the corner, and the only way you’ll know is if you keep going.
The path to success is never a straight line. It’s filled with ups and downs, wins and losses, breakthroughs and breakdowns. But if you refuse to give up, you’ll eventually find yourself on the other side, looking back and realizing that every struggle was worth it.
So keep going. You’re closer than you think.
