If you are a writer, don’t take writing for granted. Writing is your vision, and it has the power to change the game. Whatever niche, genre, or style you write in, you can make an impact through writing. Most people feel discouraged because their content does not get enough appreciation. Sometimes you don’t get a good response just because your content lacks some element.

There is no need to worry more. I am here to solve this issue. You just need to follow a few tips to make your readers love it.

So, let’s uncover!

Why do readers don’t engage? because you might bore them. Even if you cover valuable information in your article but it’s written in a boring way, nobody will read it.

  • You must add spices to the content.
  • Trigger their interest in the introduction, and they will be hooked till the end.
  • Follow the right strategies and rules to write the article.

Here is how you can achieve this:

#1. Work on the topic first because it’s the first impression

Your topic must resonate with your reader’s interest. First, you need to know what your audience is interested in reading.

Other than the reader’s interest, your topic must be SEO-friendly because recognition of your article is important.

Even if you write an amazing article but it is not recognised, how will you achieve the desired results?

As an online writer, you must have basic knowledge of SEO.

Find out a keyword for the topic you want to write in.

Optimise your title and make it readable and easy to understand.

Make the heading attention-grabbing and should trigger curiosity in readers

#2. Use the Subheading hierarchy in the right way

Subheadings are important from an SEO and quality perspective.

From an SEO perspective, each part of the article must be separated by a hierarchy of subheadings.

  • The headings are formatted as H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6.
  • H1 means main heading or title.
  • H2 means a subheading under the main title.
  • H3 means microheading under subheading, and so on.

From a reading and quality perspective, dividing the article into smaller sections makes the reading process easy for readers and enables them to better understand the content. This also provides them with an insight into what they’ll cover in each section.

#3. Format the content before publishing

Polish your article with formatting. Many people ignore the importance of formatting.

An article with poor formatting will frustrate the readers soon, and they will quit.

Don’t write the article in a long paragraph; instead, split it into smaller paragraphs. Long paragraphs seemed boring and difficult to read.

Split the article into headings and subheadings, as mentioned in the previous section.

  • Quote the quotation or pinpoint of your articles.
  • Bold the text that shows solid points and is the crux of the article.
  • Use bullets while using information in points under subheadings.

#4. Provide valuable content

Make sure your content provides value to the readers. It should be well researched and well-written.

The readers must gain healthy information at the end of the article.

  • Use questions in your article, and then answer them. Because it is possible that readers might have the same questions in their minds. (FAQ)
  • Using examples to make the article more understandable.
  • Creates scenarios, solves problems, and provides insight that they can use.
  • Also, include actionable steps that readers can take.

#5. Write in a conversational tone

One of the most important things every writer must acknowledge is that using difficult words does not make you an excellent writer.

If you are writing for readers and want them to engage with your content, you must write in a conversational tone.

Writing in a conversational tone makes it easy for readers to understand the content and enjoy it.

Writing in a difficult manner confuses the readers about the subject you are talking about in the article and does not provide value.

Write like you are talking directly to the readers, and they are your friends.

#6. Include images and multimedia

You must add some visuals in the form of images or videos to your article because it adds beauty and makes it easier to understand things with a visual demonstration.

Also, sometimes monotonous articles become boring, and people quit without completing the article.

When they are caught by boredom due to monotonous reading, visuals can trigger interest and make them continue reading.

I do not say to always add visuals, but if your article has space for visuals, you must add them. However, sometimes they are not required.

#7. End with a call-to-action

To trigger engagement, wrap up the article with a call to action. Some people misunderstand the call-to-action rule, and they limit it to copywriting.

And what does copywriting mean for them? It’s just when you promote something and have to drive the sale.

Let me make it clear: a call-to-action is part of content writing.

Content writing is a broad term, and copywriting is a type of it. The call-to-action rule applies to all kinds of writing.

Even if your article doesn’t have anything to sell, you still need the audience or readers to act. Those actions are likes, comments, and sharing, which we said is engagement, and this engagement is boosted by call-to-action.

You can wrap up with a question or by introducing what you talk about so that people follow you, etc.

Wrapping Up

Writing a compelling article is not rocket science or something difficult that can’t be achieved. Only a simple gesture makes your article stand out.

You need to leverage these simple tips and be open to learning new ideas. Only small changes or tips can make a big difference.

There is much more that you can add to make the content more compelling.

What are the other tips you want to add to the list? Does this article add value to your read?

Happy writing!
