How To Promote Your Heart Based Business
Sharing successful ways to expand your client base

Many of my clients have a block when it comes to some of the most fundamental promotion techniques. I’ve helped them randomly which developed into an information live session on Zoom and now I’m sharing here, as the information is so simplistic and so useful.
Believe the title as I plan to keep this ultra simple and apart from some baby steps to do right now I’ll set your brain thinking on some of the next steps.
The steps we’ll cover in this article are:
• How to begin where you are right now
• How to create content that sounds like you and sounds like what you offer
• How to easily grow your email list
• How to share something tiny to find your market (and to let your market find you)
• Working with a Digital or ‘Bricks & Mortar’ business
• Your Step by Step promoting on Facebook
How to begin where you are right now.
My first goal here is to get you started using the information and contacts that you have already. You’ll find that most of what we talk about here is pertinent to both a digital business and a bricks and mortar one and I expand further on each to clarify some topics.
What you can do Now which won’t cost you any money?
Doing some steps for yourself means you get a better handle on what you want to promote and what you want your client to hear. So have a think about each of the following then see how you can begin from where you are right now, you just need to choose one small step.
• Where are you at with your promoting? Which area feels like the easiest, the simplest for you to take one more step into? Choose that rather than a complicated system that takes time to learn. Do the easy step first while learning the harder one, get something happening.
• Do you have a compiled email list? If you do then begin some form of interaction and if you don’t then there’s more information about this further down.
• Do you have a website? This can be good for sharing offers etc but isn’t necessary.
• Have you begun a Blog? In the right places this can be awesome.
• Do you have a Social media profile/business page?
• Do you attend, in person or digitally, gatherings and networking groups.
People need to see your shine and representing yourself publicly (whether physically or digitally) in your truest form is a major plus for your authentic marketing and promotion.

How to Create content that sounds like you and what you offer.
Thinking about Content is one of those things that can make our brains go numb. AND I have a solution, one that you can practice and refine at any time. To work with this personalized system remember to Work with your heart always.
These next steps will have you Digging for Content Gold.
- Set your cell phone up with the recording app ready to go
- Gentle your breathing and close your eyes
- Imagine your best kind of client, the one that makes your heart smile
- Now consider what you’d like to tell them about your work
- Then press start on the record app and just speak this into the recorder
No-one else is going to hear this so take you time, even speak out loud the kind of person you’re talking to prior to talking about your work.
Remember that your ears are listening so you’re embedding your thoughts there as well.
You can then go back over your recording and type up notes but you may find you don’t need to as the act of speaking to your lovely imaginary client beds that content into your brain. Just the doing of it, the speaking of it sparks great content.
This work will provide content for Blogs, Email content, Web content, Email nurture etc It’s GOLD.
How to easily grow your email list.
Have you been hiding your SHINE from friends and family while you grow into your new picture? You may think that they don’t want to even acknowledge what you’re creating but you should give them the chance to say Yes or No.
I actually popped all of my family and friends onto my email list and sent them a special newsletter outlining my work and saying very clearly that they can stay or go. Confirming that the unsubscribe button was at the end and it won’t hurt a bit. The outcome for me was that some stayed and some went. Done.
Do you have a BIG email list or very small?

Stepping is better than leaping with this stuff – to stop overwhelm.
Ask an authentic friend to promote you – both on social media and through your emails.
Always work from your heart.
This process can be adapted and used for where ever you have contacts which are outside of your email base.
Some ways to do this are:
One is to straight up ask them for their email address.
OR begin creating interest within your social media.
And this can lead to what’s called a Lead Magnet which is a little more complex and something I can go into another time. This system is not one to jump into when you’re just beginning as it’s another form of overwhelm.
How to share something tiny to find your market – and to let your market find you.
What does your heart work look like to others?
Can you easily describe what you do? If you’ve completed the Create Content task above, then you should have some good content.
Creating and sharing something useful and something from your heart is one way to both grow your business and your email list. A small e-book (otherwise known as a pdf) is a beautiful sharing tool and there are many ways to mine your content gold.

Where do you share it? Begin with what you have and aim to share your gift to an email address so that you grow your contact base.
Share with your own contacts first.
Share into your FB groups.
See where you can do a ‘Live’ talk via some related groups.
Working with Digital or Bricks’N’Mortar businesses
Working physically does mean that you can look at where can you show up physically. Where can you SHINE?
You can utilize everything else we’ve talked about already plus add in the magic factor of You as a local.
Make sure your Google listing is valid, do you even have a Google listing? You can quite easily set up your Google business and then begin to populate it with your gifts, with your specials or with your blog. Share almost anything there to get traffic.
Ask friends and family to do a recommendation for you on your Google business page.
Join and be part of the local FB community – where it’s valid of course. Join local groups which are based on your interests and hobbies and, where valid, talk about your work. People will get to know you this way and you’ll build a better local network.
What can you offer as a promo to give value and show who you are and what you do? We talked about a ‘tiny offer’ earlier and this whole idea can value add your physically based business.
Get feedback and testimonials and use them, they add value to your work.
Step by Step promotion on FaceBook
Gently utilize your FB personal page.
When you post anywhere at all go back and like/love/comment to give it more value on FB.
Don’t use any obvious advertising on a personal profile but there’s a gentle way to do this thing by talking about what you do in a valid and personal way.
Use your top cover photo to highlight your business (you can even pop a Press Here button into the photo which would open up the photo post. This is where you add more business information along with a link to your website or blog.
Use your featured photo spot to promote a special. The photo is the lead and you then edit the caption to give the business information that’s valid to your promotion.
Change it up – change photos and promos etc. Keep the interest level fun and happy.
See what language your market uses and begin to use this in hashtags.
Don’t pay for advertising until you know it’s what people are seeing. Test any advertising idea in the market place first to see how it attracts.
I use all of the ideas that I’ve outlined in this story and I play around with photos of mine, photos from Canva or other stock supply. It’s part of your growth to see what gets ‘likes’, to see what is noticed. What you prefer is probably not going to be the most favourite so sit back from your own preferences and look at any statistics that you can gather.
