Here in Canada, there is a thing called "Employment Insurance" which means that the Government of Canada if you lose your job at your no-fault. But, it is not enough to cover all of your family's expenses, especially if you are a single parent.

From the time that I decided that I want to stay at home with my family, I knew that the Employment Insurance will not be enough, so I have to make another source of income.

So, I searched on the internet on how to make money online, and I personally tried all of them.

So here are my TOP 5 on how to earn money online:

5. Do Dropshipping

"Dropshipping is a streamlined form of retail business wherein the seller accepts customer orders but does not keep goods sold in stock. Instead, in a form of supply chain management." - Wikipedia

In other words, Dropshipping is the reseller does not have an actual product on hand; but will still take the order from the customer; the reseller will send a fulfillment order request to the supplier, and the supplier will handle and ship the product directly to the customer.

I find this one really interesting because I do not need to go shop around and look for products to sell, no stock room is needed, and no responsibility is needed on handling and shipping the products. And you can start with even no capital from it.

And let me share with you my experience with Dropshipping:

A decent income, once you build your audience

Cons:

Expensive subscription fee. after the free trial you would have to pay the subscription fee, which is starting at $29 per month, plus some other additional fees for their service.

Hard to build traffic, Shopify provides the traffic that you would need to build your audience, both paid and free traffic.

Dropshipping needs to be listed as a legal business.

It is actually my first time involving myself in a business, and I do not want to take the risk of spending extra money on subscription plans and paid traffic ads. And if I will depend on the free traffics, it will take me at least 6 months before I start having customers.

So I ended up closing the store before my free trial expires. But it was a great experience for me. Maybe when I am ready to spend extra money towards the subscription and paid traffics, I may start a dropshipping website again.

4. Paid Surveys and Tasks

Paid Online Surveys are actually legit and there are a lot of websites that pay their users after answering a survey, my top favorites are Swagbucks, Qmee, and Google rewards.

Swagbucks and Qmee are not just about answering a survey, but also offer tasks and cashback offers. For the tasks, it includes downloading a certain game or app, play it for free but sometimes you would have to spend money to get points.

Google Opinion Rewards, if you are an Android user, you will receive a notification if there is a survey for you and once the survey has been completed, a cash reward will reflect right away to your Google Play Balance.

Swagbucks and Qmee

Pros:

- A decent points towards effortless and easy tasks and surveys

- legit paying websites

- A lot of variety of giftcards; Paypal, Amazon, Walmart, etc..

- Great customer service experience

Cons:

- Unable to cash out directly to your bank account. Giftcard exchange only.

Google Opinion Rewards

Pros:

- Very easy to answer surveys and cash rewards directly to your Google play rewards

Cons:

-Surveys are not available all the time, you would have to wait until Google Opinion Rewards notifies you that there is a survey that is ready for you. I received survey notifications once a week.

Redeeming your points into $25 worth of Walmart giftcard for just answering quick surveys and easy tasks is actually really decent. And I would say that answering surveys and doing some easy tasks are the best way to kill your boredom while still earning.

3. Affiliate Marketing

"Affiliate Marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates to each visitors or customer brought by affiliate's own marketing effort." - Wikipedia

In other words, Join, Promote, Earn.

First, you will have to decide on your platform and think about your niche.

Join - sign up and become an affiliate of the company that you would like to promote. There are a lot of big companies that offer a good commission percentage, such as Amazon, Shopify, etc..

Promote - Using your website or blog, promote your chosen company by creating an advertisement, writing a review, blogging, or promoting a specific product, or even by sending a promotional email to your clients if you already build your audience.

Earn - Using your advertisement link, customers will be redirected to the company's website that you are advertising. And once the customer made a complete purchase, you will get compensated by your advertised company. You could easily earn $100 per sale, depending on the affiliate program that you joined.

Sometimes, you would have to put a little money to advertise your advertisement, in order for you to build an audience so you earn more commission.

2. Blog

Blogging is the most popular way how to make money online. Whether you write a blog or you make videos to blog. Earning money with a blog is a really easy-peasy way on how to have a passive income, as long as you have the talent, skills, and passion for what you are doing.

But creating a blog will not gonna make you a millionaire in an instant. Publishing a blog will not give you $1000 when you woke. Of course, you would need to have good content, build an audience, make sure that your blog has high traffic, SEO enabled, connected to affiliate programs, have a lot of advertisement, coupons, and discounts.

In short, for you to make a lot of money from your blog, you would have to put in a lot of effort, patience, and marketing skills.

It takes time before you can start earning a lot from blogging, but it is better to start now and earn later. Rather than doing nothing.
