Hello farmers, As we all know that locust is the biggest problem for farmers, it can destroy all types of crops. So we must control the locust attack and save farming. So today, we came up with a blog called "how to control locust? - few guidelines for the farmers".

In this blog, we share some guidelines that help you to control locust and save your crops. The Locust team has caused ruin in some states of the country for the past several days. The number of locusts is in crores, which eat all crops, including sugarcane, vegetable, fruits, millet, and moong, in a few hours. It caused damage in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. And now the locust team has decided their direction according to the wind trend. Governments in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, Karnataka issued an alert regarding locust swarms arriving.

Since April 11 this year, locust swarms have invaded many places in India. They entered several districts of Rajasthan via Pakistan's Sindh province. Then they entered neighboring state Madhya Pradesh, and many states now have been put on alert. The locust attack has affected about 90,000 hectares across 20 districts of Rajasthan.

Locust attack is a big challenge for farmers

A considerable challenge is likely to emerge when the swarms flying over 20 districts of Rajasthan are breeding. This year, locusts are immature, which is very dangerous. Immature locusts can cause more harm as they have a longer lifespan. Pakistan was unable to control the locust population. So huge swarms aided by high-speed winds have flown into the Indian side of Thar desert. The locust will start breeding the eggs after the onset of monsoon and continue to lay for two months. With new insects being born during the growth phase of the Kharif crops.

How to control locust

At present, the primary method of controlling the locust swarm is applied Organophosphate chemicals in concentrated douse by aerial spray or handheld spray. This method can control locust attacks to a large extent.

Guidelines for the farmers

  1. Farmers burn the firecrackers in the field together.
  2. The locust team always chooses loamy areas to lay their eggs. So do not leave loamy fields empty, till plowing.
  3. Fill the fields with water so that there is no chance for breeding or laying eggs.
  4. Beat the empty thali tin vigorously and make a loud sound by drums because through these sounds, locust also runs away.
  5. The locust team senses the vibration of the sound, due to this reason, DJ's are also being used to drive them away. By detecting the sound from far away, they change the way or go away from the fields.
  6. Crops must be sprayed with Benzotrichloride, Hestabytamil, Chlorophyllifas to protect the plant from locust attack.
  7. Chemical is being spoiled from the drone, and the government level makes such efforts.
  8. An empty field locust lays eggs, so the destruction of these eggs should be dug deep in the field then filled with water.
  9. Some other way to protect your farms from a locust swarm
  10. People can make garlic spray at home. Make a paste of garlic and green chili and add some water to it then spray at plants.
  11. Spray some neem oil on the plants. Because research has shown that neem oil causes the locust group. They become lazy, solitary, and motionless.

Pesticides With Sprayed with Drone or Helicopter

Drones are already on board to control the locust. India now deploys helicopters for aerial spray and 60 specialized insecticides sprayer from the UK to kill the locust before they attack newly sown Kharif crops in June - July.

Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, "Drone will be used to spray pesticides on tall trees and inaccessible places for control of locusts, while plans are afoot to deploy helicopters for aerial spray."
