Vocal Deserves My Help Because Vocal Is The Reason I Started Writing.

I have been a member of Vocal for quite some time. I am a writer from the U.K. and a carer. I never managed to sustain employment because mental health and trauma put many blocks in my life, and my learning journey wasn't an easy one.

When I first started writing, I was very young and although my teachers were very supportive, I wasn't encouraged or shown how to take that further when I was at school.

I remember always reading and writing as a child, but as I grew older there were problems with my mental health, social life, and my family life. I lost confidence and I nearly gave up.

At the time I started on Vocal, my husband worked long hours and I was almost always alone.

It wasn't easy making friends in my community because there was a lot of bias around my mental health and family situation.

I went through a lot of pain in those early years, and I suffered many painful losses which I wrote about in many of my earlier stories on vocal. You will find them in my profile.

I decided that I wanted to try and better myself. I decided that the best way to do that was to start by finding the courage to allow my work to be seen online, whereas in the past I had always kept my writing out of the public eye.

I wasn't sure that my work would be good enough, and I made a lot of mistakes due to the anxiety that writing online brought with it.

However, I was able to do it with help from the very supportive team here at Vocal, who were always willing to give me a helping hand.

I made a lot of writer friends along the way, and even though most of them live in the U.S. I want to thank those Vocal writers for their support and friendship over the years, and the encouraging feedback I have had on my work.

I feel that I am becoming a more confident writer now, and I am now trying to build a career in writing and books.

When I first saw the filthy community, I read the stories, but I was too embarrassed to write anything about sex, whether fictional or not! That community encouraged me to give it a go, and now I write in there when I can. Here is a chapter series I am working on in there.

It is taking me a while to write part two, but be reassured I am piecing it together!

I don't earn a lot on here, most of my earnings come from Medium. However, I find myself unable to leave Vocal.

I'd be too sad to do it!

When I do earn on vocal (which I do, just not enough to make me a millionaire!!), I really appreciate it. When I see a bonus, I smile because I know that Vocal appreciates my story.

When I get a top story, I jump for joy because I know Vocal loves it, and that makes the time and effort worth it!

I like to help Vocal, although I can't invest in shares. However, every little effort on my behalf helps.

Here is what I do:

  • I share my work on social media, and I follow Vocal.
  • I talk about the benefits of Vocal with friends and family.
  • I wear my Vocal T-shirt in public and with pride.
  • I discuss the positives about why I write on Vocal.

It might be a small list, but all the small things count. Vocal isn't well known here in the U.K.

When I talk about Vocal, and I share my work, I feel good not only because writing here makes me beam with pride, but also because I am giving Vocal the thanks that they deserve by introducing new people.

New readers mean new writers and readers, and that benefits both myself and Vocal!

Vocal enabled me to find the courage to start my writing journey on the web, so I will start by saying thank you once again for that.#

My sole promise is to keep doing my part by paying it forward and letting everyone I know in the U.K. and beyond about the amazing experiences and benefits I get from writing on this brilliant platform.

It might take time to make money here, but Vocal does more than that, by valuing my work.

Thankyou to all you readers, writers, and staff for helping me to make my writing dream come true.

Oh, this is so wholesome, Carol. I may get in on the investment action, I may not. It's a scary thing for me to do, but I truly appreciate your side of supporting this platform for all it's done for you. Now I'm off to find you on Medium! (I'm there too!)
