We as people can not be detained. Free us and the world evolves. That’s all we have ever been screaming and hollering. Listen to Black folks, listen to the White folks that support Black folks. We live in a time where White people who haven’t “tapped in” are slowly getting the message.

Bear with them, for they do not know.

When your faith is tested, rather than act in fear--trust in what you have been instructed. There is not one scenario in the Bible that misses the blueprint of today’s world. We just got tired of the medium. The original preachers didn’t drive Mercedes nor did they fly via helicopter. Yes, greed did rise up and take the ranks of so many of those leadership roles but that problem fixed itself because children of the bible thumping parents saw the preachers for what they were. Those children quickly spread the message that church isn’t safe so don’t look for sanctuary in religion.

So, we turned to who was telling the truth. For us it was the rappers. They were detailing the human experience with raw, uncut filters. They were sharing with our generation what it takes to survive, thrive, be multi-faceted and financially independent. Then rappers got caught up in the glitz and glam and forgot they were the messengers. Some of them--not all.

Rappers like Lil Baby, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Future, I would even add NBA Youngboy to the mix. They rap their lives. Their real lives. They put their experiences and what they learn from them into their recordings. The studio is their therapy space and healing chamber. Then the rap game got tainted because people who were into control got hip to the chokehold that these figures have over our community. So they put them in chains--this time the chains had diamonds on them. They put them in chains that would put them in debt. No man can be free if he has debt. You owe someone something for whatever you borrowed. Being in debt is a creeping feeling that haunts you in a very subtle way. When you’re reminded of what you owe you have to assume a position of a borrower. Borrowers seldom exude the law of superior confidence. How can they? Being in debt is it’s own particular kind of prison. Everyone has to get their palms greased and if you owe someone a significant debt, you can’t fully celebrate your own wins.

Now, the next wave of influence will come from social media. The mass media was invented as a way to spread information to the masses. As the world has evolved, so has the media. Now, the tools for spreading messages have expanded to where Black folks can have a say. Now what kind of say do you suppose we have? I’d say a thriving advantage. We can now show the world what a joy it is to be Black. Even if White folks can’t see it--we see it. Social media has enabled our communities to merge in a way that has not happened since before we were transported here. It has lived on in Books and great speeches but it was a bit harder to find these things as they were restricted. Now, we have invented a tool that will likely be used by those who are into control to corrupt and for some of us it will be used to show proof of that warm fuzzy feeling inside of you.

Influencers are the new messengers. We hope. I’ve had someone tell me three years ago in a professional setting, “You are our influencer.” The weight of that matter of fact compliment still feels heavy to this day. My goal as an influencer is to use my powers for good. Be a benevolent queen and serve for the greater good for the purposes for freedom for all people.
