How to Print on Sublimation Mugs

By Motivate BoxPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

●What is a sublimation mug?

Sublimation mugs are those specialized mugs that are designed for printing and customizing according to one's own choice. These mugs have a special coating surface, that is the ceramic surface.

●Can you sublimate your regular mug?

The answer to this question is- No. Sublimation of a mug only works on fabric. If the mug is glazed ceramic, then it's suitable for sublimation. Or else it's not possible.

●Can any printer be used for sublimation printing?

The only answer that exists for this is a NO. Because we need special dyes to print on paper and not all printers play nicely with them. Printers that use piezo pressure technology (getting too technical for me!) are the types of printers that can handle sublimation dyes.

●Things to remember before sublimation of a mug.

1. Get the right equipment.

For doing sublimation on anything, it's really important to choose the right and perfect machines. Since sublimation is an attractive opportunity, it is also easy and cheap to set up. Therefore, the only equipment that is needed includes a printer, plotter, sublimation ink, sublimation paper and a good heat press.

Talking about printers, we supply Epson ink tank printers which will help you to print high-resolution photos. Additionally, the colours of the photos you print with these printers are bright and eye-catchy. Moreover, you can save your printing cost with this Epson eco tank printer because the cost of per-page print is low.

Secondly, you will also require a plotter to cut various materials like MDF wood, acrylic, vinyl with the help of the plotter cutting machines. It has a cutting force of 800 – 2000 gms, as a result, the cutting is very smooth. Also, these cutter plotters have a fast USB and U – disk interface making the process of cutting faster and smoother. Simultaneously, this can result in increased productivity. Also, all the cutting plotters use less than 100W of power and help you save on your electricity bills.

In addition, to printers and plotters, a good heat pressure is a must. All the heat printing machines are easy to use with the help of a control box which they have. Also, the solid metal build along with safety systems make them last for a long time.

2. To have sublimation accessories.

To have your hands on the workflow, it is necessary to have the accessories before beginning with sublimation printing. Things included are as follow:

=>Heat resistant gloves: To protect your hands from burning when handling items. We provide the Sublimation heat resistant gloves which are easy and comfortable to wear on

=> Teflon sheets: To protect the lower heat platen from water. Also, it can be easily wiped off and cleaned. Teflon sheets can also be placed on top of a transfer for more protection. The Teflon sheets provided by us can work at a temperature of 196 to 300-degree celsius so they can withstand heat very well. Also, it doesn't stick to any items so it is easy to remove.

=>Silicon pad: This pad protects the base surface of this machine. And we provide what is best. With optimal thickness, the silicone heat pad can handle the heat and pressure you apply while using the heat printing machine. Also, it is super easy to use the silicone thermal pad with heat press machines as it easily attaches to the heat press machine.

3. Stay stocked on sublimation blanks.

Sublimation business, at times, can be tricky. Thus, we are here to help you out with this too. MotivateBox supplies products at wholesale prices. And, it is now a chance for you too, to start your own mini business if you are thinking about starting one.

●How to do sublimation printing?

The first thing first, is to choose a design to sublimate on a blank. You can edit them with the help of designing and editing software. After you adjust the settings, you can sublimate the item.
