Ever stared at a blank page for hours thinking what to write? Whether you are a professional author, a freelance writer, a hobbyist blogger, or even just a student doing course works, you must have experienced a writer’s block at least once. And as a copywriter, running out ideas is even more common especially when you are working on a single product/service only.

So what can you do to keep your creative juices flowing when the well dries up? Here are some best copywriting tips to spark your creativity every time you write.

1. RESEARCH

This is of course the very basic. But it really adds meat to your copy and give you some good ideas to write. Even if you are a professional copywriter, always research like a beginner.

  • Research the product/service

Make sure you know everything there is to know about what you are selling. Every single fact, every salient feature, everything. Because from everything comes the important things you absolutely need to mention.

  • Research the audience

Once you know your product, know your target audience. You need to be able to think from their point of view in order to write a great product description with just things your audience wants to know and hear.

  • Research the seller

It’s important to know who you are selling for. Sometimes the brand name sells the product, other times the product sells the brand too. Make sure you know and highlight the key features of the seller.

2. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX – NOT WHAT YOU ARE THINKING

You heard what I said. This is only a simplified phrase for Lateral Thinking (invented by Edward de Bono in 1967). The gist of this term is to create new pieces instead of working with what you got.

  • Try a new perspective

If you can’t think of a new angle yourself, ask around from friends, kids, anyone what they’d do in your place. Find a fresh perspective and use it.

  • Create your own path

Don’t just use the cards dealt out to you. If you have two ways to choose from, create a new third one.

  • Embrace any and all ideas

No ideas are strange or stupid, especially the very first that comes to your mind. Write a documented plan listing all related ideas and build your work around them.

3. TRY THE ‘AIDA’ KEY

  • ATTENTION: Grab your audience’s attention. A catchy, relatable headline about the problem in question they can’t ignore.
  • INTEREST: Once they start reading, make sure to spike their interest with relatable, precise, preferably humorous content that explains the problem and offers a solution (your product).
  • DESIRE: Highlight all the salient features and advantages of your solution to make them want it.
  • ACTION: Tell them what to do next, guide how to acquire the product/service you are selling.

4. CREATE AN INSPIRATION HUB

More often than not, you will have deadlines looming over your head while you are stuck in writer’s block. For those emergencies, always keep a go-to inspiration hub to break through and generate ideas.

Your hub can include:

  • Everything that inspires and motivates you to write: quotes, articles, books, excerpts, etc.
  • A word and idea bank: a collection of random ideas and unlimited unique words that resonate and get you down to thinking, or are just relatable to any topic you need to write on.
  • Sources: best reference articles, best samples, collection of best tips for writing, any and all sources that you find useful in copywriting.

Although, these copywriting tips are just basics these are roots to make your copy stand firm among your competitors. Try these tips and never give a chance to let your reader feel bored.
