A Sneaky Way To Reduce Dis-Stress In Your Life

Plus Two Things To Be Wary About With This Method

80% of people are going through Burnout - and more than that are going through deep levels of Dis-Stress.

Who wins in business today?

You, or your competitor?

The answer depends on who is able to overcome the Stress that exists and can get their teams to overcome it as well.

The first way people attempt to do this is to reduce Stress.

This can work, at least to an extent.

However, we all have Stresses that we can't just "get rid of".

You might have specific responsibilities that are difficult, or maybe something is going wrong that needs to be fixed.

We will all reach a point where this occurs.

So, is there a way to reduce your Stress even if you can't get rid of it?

Well, science gives us an answer, and the answer is YES!

Reducing Dis-Stress Sneakily

The key to accomplishing this is actually all in how we approach Stressors.

See, based on the science, how we "think" about Stressors will impact how it appears in our body.

Our Perceptions of Stressors can make them better or worse!

So, there are 2 forms of Stress in our lives.

There is "Bad" Stress, otherwise known as "Dis-Stress".

However, there is also "Good" Stress, or "Eu-Stress".

Depending on how we think about Stressors will impact the type of response our body has.

If we think the Stressor will be Dis-Stress, we will have an "Avoidance" response.

We often will call this a "Fight-or-Flight" response.

On the other hand, if we think the Stressor will be Eu-Stress, it will create a "Challenge" response.

One of the interesting things that occur in our Psychophysiology is that if we believe that something is a "Challenge", we have a tendency to "Rise to the Challenge" quite literally!

There was some research done on people who were preparing to workout.

Researchers wanted to know who would tough out the workouts, and who would give up sooner.

What they found was that if the individuals saw the workouts as something to avoid, their brains showed an "Avoidance" response.

On the other hand, if they believed that the workouts were a challenge, their brains showed a "Challenge" response.

Those with the "Challenge" response outlasted the competition.

Why?

Well, the "Challenge" response also meant participants had more Calm that their brains were maintaining.

More Calm simply means less overall Stress!

Just by looking at something as a Challenge gives us to ability to lessen the Stressor's impact on our Psychophysiology!

What they further found was that when we have a Challenge mindset, we unconsciously create reasons to go further and longer!

So, quite literally, we can use our brain to go longer and lessen our Stressors!

Two Things To Pay Attention To

However, there are two things we still need to be extremely careful of.

One of the things I say all the time...

All Stress Adds.

So, we can lessen a Stressor's impact by having a "Challenge" mindset and response, BUT we still need to pay attention to our overall Stress.

We all have a certain Stress threshold, and if we go over it, even something that is considered a Eu-Stress, even if we approach it with a Challenge Mindset, could become Dis-Stress.

Less Stress Impact doesn't mean No Stress Impact.

Even if you managed to approach every Stressor with a Challenge Mindset, if you have a Million Stressors you'll still be in Dis-Stress.

With Less Stress Impact we could take on higher levels of Stress than the "typical" person, but we still need to keep track.

The other thing to pay attention to is this...

Are you Recovering from Stress?

All Stress also creates damage to our bodies.

The technical term is "Oxidative Stress".

There are certain Macronutrients and Micronutrients you need in your body to fix Oxidative Stress.

If you don't have those components, your Oxidative Stress will continually build up, and decrease your Stress Threshold.

The reality is that in today's world, the is a VERY low percentage of people who are actually getting the proper components to fix their Oxidative Stress (By my estimates, less than 10% of people).

Not to mention that there is a VERY high percentage of things in our lives that actively create higher levels of Oxidative Stress.

Do you know where your Stress Threshold and Stress Damage currently are?

What about your team's Stress Thresholds and Stress Damage?

Understanding this will be what separates businesses in the future.
