What Type of Writer Do You Feel You Are?
The self-interview started by RHC and MC
The following are the questions by Rick Henry Christopher answered by Denise Estey Lindquist:
What type of writer do you feel you are? I have been a better writer since starting Vocal a few years ago. I was used to technical writing before retirement and I wrote poetry/rhymes for a few years prior to starting on Vocal.
What type of writer do you not want to be? I am interested in learning all the genres so I am comfortable with each one.
What do you like about yourself as a writer? That I am determined to keep writing. I love to read. And writing is still a second to reading.
What do you look for in other writers? I enjoy reading poetry, short stories, fiction and non-fiction, mysteries, and humor.
What do you not like about yourself as a writer? Other than self-publishing, I have no interest in finding a publishing company or an agent. Why wouldn't I want to have an editor and critique in that way? Why wouldn't I want someone else to absorb the print costs for example?
Which writing genre or category do you feel is your best? I have been working on rhyme and poetry for the longest. I get more recognition for non-fiction stories though.
In which genre or category do you feel the most challenged? I have the most trouble with horror and fiction.
When did you first start writing? In 2016, after retirement. I wrote a few memorial items prior. Cookbooks (2), calendars (2), and a book about Reiki and Cancer all for memorials and fundraisers.
Why do you write? I enjoy writing. I have more time since retirement. My grandson asked me to write rap music. That got me into rhyming/poetry. Now I write for Vocal, Medium, and NaNoWriMo. I have a writing group on Facebook where we have a Poem A Day In February, and we write rhymes on the 8th of every month in that writing group.
This last question is off-topic. If you could be part of any television sitcom family, which one would it be and why? It hasn't been written yet is my first response! My husband watches the Honeymooners, Archie Bunker, Mash, Andy of Mayberry, Green Acres, Star Trek, and old westerns primarily. I don't watch much television. Maybe a Hallmark family would work. One where there is laughter and tears. Right now I am editing what I wrote on NaNoWriMo in November as a possible Christmas gift.
I have included Mother Combs and Rick Henry Christopher's self -interviews here:
And here are the questions you can use if you choose to write out a self-interview for Vocal. Copy and paste!

I enjoyed your self interview! You have trouble with horror and fiction. I have trouble with romance and non fiction, lol!
Wonderful Denise. I really enjoyed this. Shirley Belk also did a self-interview.
I adore the picture you chose for your interview! I read your profile and it seems you and I are recently retired and love our grands and greats. That is so remarkable that your grandson wanted you to be a part of his world and do rap together...love it. Tells me so much about you. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to reading your poems and stories.
Love your answers! Thank you for playing along.
