Exclusive Interview with Kiara Advani

Global Music : Kiara, thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us today. You’ve been in the industry for a while now and have had some truly remarkable roles. How do you feel about the journey so far?

Kiara Advani: Thank you so much for having me. It feels surreal when I look back at my journey. I’ve been really lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such talented people and be part of diverse projects. Every day is a learning experience, and I’m truly grateful for the love and support I’ve received from my fans, family, and colleagues. It feels like the best is yet to come, and I’m excited about what the future holds.

Global Music : You’ve played a wide variety of roles – from romantic comedies like Kabir Singh to more intense films like Laxmii. How do you choose the roles that you take on?

Kiara Advani: Honestly, it’s a gut feeling. When I read a script, I look for a connection. Does the character excite me? Do I feel like I can bring something new to it? I also think about how the role will challenge me as an actor and whether it’ll help me grow. Each character teaches me something new about myself, and I love that aspect of acting. I’m very selective, and I want to make sure that the audience sees a different side of me with each project.

Global Music : You became a household name with Kabir Singh. It was a massive hit, but the character of Preeti sparked a lot of debates. How did you prepare for that role, and what was your experience of portraying such a sensitive character?

Kiara Advani: Kabir Singh was a very special film for me. Preparing for Preeti was a delicate balance. I had to understand her as a person — her vulnerability, her love for Kabir, and her own personal growth. The character was misunderstood by many, but I always believed that she was not just a "silent" love interest. She had her own journey. For me, it was important to stay true to the essence of her character and the relationship dynamics that were portrayed. It wasn’t easy, but I’ve always believed in letting the character speak for itself. And as for the debate, I think it’s healthy — films should stir conversations.

Global Music : You’ve had the opportunity to work with some big names in Bollywood. Who has been the most inspiring mentor or co-actor for you?

Kiara Advani: I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible actors and directors. Shahid (Kapoor) in Kabir Singh, Akshay (Kumar) in Laxmii, and Sidharth (Malhotra) in Shershaah — all of them have taught me something unique. But if I had to pick one person who has truly influenced me as an actor, it would be Sidharth. We shared a great bond during Shershaah. He’s such a dedicated and grounded actor, and working with him was such a learning experience. His focus and commitment to his craft are truly inspiring.

Global Music : Shershaah was an iconic film, especially with how it showcased the life of Captain Vikram Batra. How did you prepare for your role as Dimple, and what did it mean to you personally?

Kiara Advani: Shershaah was a very emotional film for me. The story of Captain Vikram Batra is so inspiring, and Dimple’s character was an integral part of that narrative. She was his love, and their bond was so pure and beautiful. Preparing for Dimple meant understanding her relationship with Vikram, not just as a romantic interest but as a woman who was incredibly proud of the man he was. It was also about understanding the military background, the sacrifices made, and the resilience of the family. Personally, it was a film that left a mark on me. Every time I think about the sacrifices made by the armed forces, I feel immense gratitude.

Global Music : You’ve also ventured into the OTT space with projects like Guilty and Lust Stories 2. How different was it working on digital platforms compared to traditional Bollywood films?

Kiara Advani: Working in the digital space has been a whole new experience. It’s refreshing because there’s more freedom and scope for experimentation. The storytelling is often more raw and real, and the way audiences consume content on OTT platforms is different. In a traditional Bollywood film, there’s a larger-than-life aspect, whereas in OTT, the stories are more intimate. Guilty and Lust Stories 2 were very different projects, but I enjoyed the challenge. I think the boundaries between traditional cinema and digital content are blurring, and I’m excited to be part of both worlds.

Global Music : There has been a lot of talk about women’s representation in Bollywood, and your success has definitely made an impact. What do you think needs to change for female actors to get more diverse and meaningful roles?

Kiara Advani: It’s a great time for women in cinema. While we still have a long way to go in terms of equal representation, things are changing. More and more female actors are getting roles that are not just love interests but are also central to the story. That’s the kind of shift I want to see continue. There needs to be more stories that empower women in every aspect — whether it’s their career, relationships, or personal growth. I’ve been lucky to be part of films where my character was given importance and depth. But I think we need to see more films with strong, multi-dimensional female characters in all genres.

Global Music : Kiara, you’ve also gained a reputation for your fitness and style. Can you share your fitness routine and how you maintain a work-life balance?

Kiara Advani: Thank you! Fitness is very important to me, not just for my work but for my overall well-being. I try to maintain a balance. I work out at least 4-5 times a week — it could be a mix of cardio, strength training, and yoga. It keeps me energized and focused. But I also believe in listening to your body. If I’m feeling low, I give myself a break. As for work-life balance, it can get tricky, but I try to spend quality time with family and friends. I’m a big believer in having some personal time to recharge and stay grounded.

Global Music : Finally, Kiara, what can we expect from you in the near future? Any exciting projects that you can share with your fans?

Kiara Advani: There’s a lot to look forward to! I’ve got some really exciting films lined up, and I can’t wait for everyone to see them. I’m working on a mix of genres, from intense dramas to light-hearted comedies. I’m also collaborating with some amazing directors and co-stars, and I’m really excited about the stories we are telling. My fans have always been incredibly supportive, and I just want to keep giving them performances that they can connect with. Stay tuned!

Global Music : Kiara, thank you for your time today. We’re looking forward to seeing all the wonderful things you’ll be doing next!

Kiara Advani: Thank you so much! It’s been a pleasure. I appreciate all the love, and I’m excited for what’s to come!
