Tiny Knight in A Skirt

Things were pretty average at the barnyard. Elina fed her mother's animals the best she could. Now something practically fell on her that could change her life forever.

My name is Elina, I’m seventeen years old, and today may have been the weirdest day of my whole life.

First, I was helping my mother around the barnyard. Not that easy when you’re around five inches tall and all the animals are bigger than you. But I make it work the best that I can. As I carry around a large needle to defend myself. Mother insisted upon that one. And as I was getting this system set up to feed the pigs. It’s a set up that involves some twine, nails, and a lot of arm strength for me.

Again, I do my best.

As I got everything into the pigs’ troughs, I heard something. There was an odd buzzing noise that got progressively louder and louder. Looking around, I didn’t see him at first. Not until they were practically on top of me. A large metallic bee that was coming straight for me. I dove out of the way and barely managed to not fall in with the pigs. That was something that I’ve always wanted to avoid. Thanks to the fact that these big fellas would eat anything that fell in. I’ve even seen them eat nails before. I had to tell mother about what had happened at all. But that’s not the biggest problem that I have now. That would be the fact that there’s a stranger and some robot bee in the trough. And who knew if those damn pigs were going to be eating them!

With all my might, I managed to drop down to where they were. Luckily, the pigs hadn’t gotten to them. And a few stabs of the needle kept some of the more interested ones away from them. It took quite a bit of effort, but I managed to get them disinterested. Soon after I did that I moved to the stranger. Helping them out of the muck. Their robotic bee thing was somewhere outside of the trough. Which I suppose was good for the pigs. They might eat anything, but they shouldn’t be eating mechanical stuff. Anyways. I managed to get the person out of there and past the pigs’ pen. When I did, I got the helmet off them to find myself face to face with a young woman. One with dark brown hair and a lot of freckles on her face. She slowly opened her eyelids and revealed the prettiest green eyes that I had ever seen in my life. A faint puzzled look into my eyes as she started to get up. Her legs were a little unsteady from the fall that she just had. I guessed she may have hit her head as she held onto my shoulder so tight.

“Thank you, miss.”,she stated. Before I could say a word, she pulled me towards herself. Throwing herself backwards with me tight against her chest. A second later, something large and green threw itself to the ground. Dust flying everywhere. Nearly choking me as I tried to clear my eyes. When I coughed a little bit, the woman muttered,”I’m so sorry. He’s followed me here…I never meant to get you involved.”

“Please, run to your barn.”,she added. I looked at where the green thing had landed. It was the strangest sight I had ever seen. A large creature that slightly resembled a toad in build and looks. But had two large eyes on stalks like a snail. His teeth were these razor-sharp needles. This..this man was by far the most horrific creature that I had ever seen in my whole life. And she wanted me to leave her to this. At first, I did as she requested of me and ran into the barn. Then I had the worst feeling in my gut as I glanced back over my shoulder just in time to see her fighting him. Wings had erupted from her back. These beautiful ones that shimmered. For the most part it looked like she was doing well. The creature was having a hard time fighting her off. Barely able to fend off this beautiful woman’s sword with his own.

Then things turned out for the worst. Using his tongue, he wrapped it around her arms and chest. Squeezing her a little before throwing her through the barndoors. I hadn’t opened them. So, she went through some very thick wood and landed inside with a loud scream of pain. Her sword dropping near me and I didn’t hesitate to snatch it up as I turned to the creature. My stomach twisted as I raised this weapon up from the ground. That creature turned his gross eyes to me and laughed. It sounds like something being grounded together that sent a chill down my spine.

You think you can fight me, little girl?”,he taunted. Holding up his own brutal looking sword as he advanced on me. Sure, I had no experience with fighting with a sword. But I wasn’t going to let this creep kill that poor woman. I didn’t say a word as I nodded my head in agreement. Doing my best to not look scared as he laughed again. And swiftly ran towards me. It all happened so fast, and I don’t know how I did it at all. I ducked under his swing and slashed upward with the woman’s sword. Cutting open the large frog thing and saving myself and the woman. He nearly fell on me as the woman got out of our barn. Looking shaken but otherwise fine. Taking the sword from my hands, she stated,”Good work, miss…”

“Elina. My name is Elina.”,I told her. Staring at the corpse in front of us. With a gentle pat to my back, she introduced herself,”Well, Elina. I’m Cornelia. Princess Cornelia from Neptune.”

“I don’t suppose you’d like to train to be one of my new knights?”
