How to survive the football season

Generally I'm a lover of football myself and feel like I may be misleading in my title but I'm accutely aware there are still many of us women that would relish the telly to themselves over the weekend whilst their darling off spring are off socialising and creating choas locally. For those of you that don't I found a way to make it through the games!

Quite by accident too!

I'd sat down comfortably to try and relax after having a stressful day and was trying to shut my brain off and enjoy the game, I couldn't even tell you at that point which teams were playing but do remember it was a premier league game, gradually I had completely zoned out. For those of you that may get the zoning out periods that are associated with complex PTSD, you will understand the concept, those of you that don't may recognise it more of the thousand yard stare but more intense that has auditary sounds almost being muted and unmuted at intervals. It's made for a lot of awkward situations over the years and some very interesting discoveries, like this one. About half an hour into the game the auditary came back just in time for me to hear the commentator screaming

"OMG THE DEFENSE HAS BEEN STRIPPED BARE AND THEY'R E SMASHING THROUGH THE BACKSIDE!!!!!!"

Immediatel I was snapped out of my momentary lapse and burst out laughing at what Guy Mowbray had just screamed in his excitement, looking perplexed my long suffering husband looked and me and asked what was so funny?

I couldn't help the giggles, I may look like a forty three year old woman but deep down I'm a six year old boy with my humour.

Shaking my head, still laughing I explained what was going on and the poor mn sighed with resignation, after all, all he wanted to do was watch a bit of footy. Myself however now take great pleasure in listening to football commentary and spend most games giggling with my husband about choice phrases that may be used by the commentators to keep up with the flow of the game. Not long afterwards there was a video released of the epic Micah Richards, trying so hard not laugh about the progress of a team called "Brest" and knew immediately that like me, he really was a six year old boy in humour. I still end getting the giggles whenever we sit to watch football, luckily though the long suffering manages to see the funny side of this too and will even bring to my attention anything I may not have picked up on. Just lately though I've brought my sisiter in law in on the joke, not sure how my brother in law copes with it, I suspect she is a lot more sensible when i'm not around to be a complete child and drag her down to my level and her ever sensible husband will just shake his head as if to say, well we knew she was a nightmare when we met her at least she remains consistent!!!

This much is true, a notorious pain in the backside that thanks to mental health issues has a tendency to blurt things out without engaging her brain first, it's left some truly awkward situations open to interpretation, wether you are alarmed or charmed conversations are never boring and neither is the footy anymore. So if you find yourself at the mercy of a remote pirate ( Those that promptly "lose" the remote once the football is on!) Please bear in mind that every now and again you can enjoy it more just by listening to the totally inappropriate comments that EVERY commentator makes in the heat of battle between two teams whether they are male or female!!!!
