JUST YOU & ME AND A GLASS OF MERLOT.

Have you ever met someone, and felt an instant connection to them? Have you ever felt like that connection could be something more if you were to explore it more? If you have answered yes to both of these questions then let me tell you a little story about a date that wasn't planned by any means, but just somehow happend by chance.

I met the most amazing, beautiful, woman one night and it wasn't something that was set up previously. No, in this case, the only way I can describe our meeting was like fate had stepped in and put this gorgeous woman in my path. I felt an unexplainable pull towards this woman when I was introduced to her. She was on her way to meet someone for a date that she was set upon by one of her co-workers, at least that's what she told Rosa, who is one of my best friends that I was at dinner with that night, and thank God for it too! I don't know what it was about her, but I felt like if I didn't do something right then I'd regret it! I turned to my friends, Rosa & Cal and they both gave me a curious look. Sorry Guys, but I gotta take a rain check on dinner, then I turned from them both and bolted towards Samantha. I caught up to her right before she went to the bar to be introduced to her so-called blind date. I reached for her, taking hold of her elbow, turning her towards me 'Samantha' ... she looked at me confused at first then blinked at me. 'Jaxson'? Did you need anything? I shook my head at her, No, No it's nothing like that. I was thinking that well, maybe... Possibly''... She stood there staring at me waiting for me to spit out whatever it is I was trying to say but completely failing at. Um, Jaxson, are you alright? I looked over her shoulder and I saw that someone was looking over at us, and I took it that he must be her blind date. I had to make a move and make it quick too because standing here not saying anything was bad enough. 'Samantha, this might seem crazy, but just hear me out ok?. She nodded at me with her lips pursed. I know your meeting someone here, but how about instead of going on a date with someone you don't know, you go out with me instead? She cocked a brow at me. But I don't know you either, She says coyly. I lifted a brow at her, Ah, but you do know me, remember? We just met. She let a giggle out at that. Yes, but that doesn't mean that I know you well enough to go out with you. I flashed her a daring smile, and I saw her face flush red a little. Well, then how about you go on a date with me, and get to know me? She went to look behind her but I caught her face with my finger and tsked at her. ''Don't turn around'' Samantha, trust me if that's the guy you're supposed to be meeting tonight then take my word for it! You're better off. Her eyes lifted in surprise at me. Is that so? I nod at her, it is so. I see then, well if he is a hideous looking monster then I suppose I have no other choice but to let you rescue me and take me out! But there better be some kind of alcohol involved?! She said in more of a demanding tone instead of a question. ''Beautiful, I will make sure there is plenty of alcohol involved. She looked at me with those heart-piercing green eyes of hers, that have seemed to have made the air in my lungs disappeared. Alright, then Cassanova! lead the way. That's all it took, and we were both laughing as I lead us out of the restaurant and into a cab. When we jumped in the cab I had no clue where I was going to take her. I probably should have thought this out a bit more before I just jumped straight into this, but I didn't, so I'm just gonna go with it. I tell the driver to head towards Central Park and then I will figure it out from there. While we were in the cab I put my arm over her, tucking her into me. I don't know what prompted me to that but there we were! She didn't protest against the move, infact she gladly curled into me. We got to Central Park and I paid the driver then looked around to hopefully get some sort of idea as to what to do or where to take her, but before that could happen, Samantha heard music coming from somewhere and she began to walk towards the music, with me in tow and we stopped right where the make-shift band was playing at. This is New York after all, so things like this aren't anything unusual here. Samantha began to sway back & forth to the music and I just stood there watching her move. She was so beautiful, she took my breath away, and that I can say has never happened to me either. I've never met a girl who I just had to go out with, I've never been with a girl who could take my breath away, but for some reason, this girl did. I felt like I had to touch her at that moment, so I reached out and took her hand. She let me and she wrapped her fingers around mine. I just happen to have smelled something delicious in the air, as we were listening to the band play and I looked around to see where it was coming from, and I saw a small little Italian restaurant off in the distance. I then told myself that's where we're gonna eat. See I knew I would get some ideas coming to me, and I did! After the song had ended I pulled Samantha to me. Weren't they just fabulous? She says to me. I nod at her, as I wrap my arms around her waist, they were. Do people just play their music on the streets like that everywhere here? Oh yes, they do! Her eyes went wide with wonder. That's amazing! Nothing like that ever happens in my little town. I take that as my cue, to find out where it is she lives exactly. And where is it that you live Samantha? I live in a small town called Three Bridges, right outside of London. I almost choked on her words, 'London"? As in London, England? She nods, Yes Silly, London, England. Do I dare ask the next question that has come to mind? I suppose I should just rip that bandaid off now, instead of waiting till later. How long are you here for then? Samantha lowered her head and looked at the ground, breaking eye contact with me. I leave tomorrow, I was only here for a business meeting, and now that the meeting is over, I have to go home. I gave her a solemn nod, I see. Not wanting to put a damper on the evening, I suck it up and lighten the mood. Well, Samantha, I think that since I only get you for one night, I should make good on my first promise and get you some food, & alcohol. She gives me an irresistible smile, that makes my knees feel wobbly. 'Jesus', what is this girl doing to me?! I think that sounds like a brilliant idea, She says to me. Come on then, let's go eat, I tell her as I move us toward the Italian restaurant.

We get there and we got a table right away. When the waitress comes to our table, she welcomes us and then takes our drink order. I order whiskey, and Samantha orders a glass of Merlot. The waitress leaves to fetch our drinks and I reach across the table and take Samantha's hand in mine. Just the touch of her hand has my heart doing things that I don't think I've ever felt it do before. This is insane! How is it that this girl, I just met can have me feeling like this? Our drinks arrived at our table and then we go went ahead and gave the waitress our orders, after that, I went right back to holding Samantha's hand. I don't know what it is about her, but I just want to touch her constantly. I eye her from across the table and I watch her take a sip of her wine. She leans back in the chair, her eyes raking me over. She leans in and places a hand under her chin. Can I ask you something, Jaxson? I nod at her. Of course, you can ask me anything. Do you always ask strangers out, that you just randomly meet and insist that they go out with you? I gave her an amusing smile. No, I don't do things like that. Ok, then why me? What was about me that made you have to ask me out? I tilt my head to the side at her question, then run a hand through my hair. Truth? I ask her and she nods. Yes, truth. Ok here it is then, I can't tell you what it was that made me have to rush over and demand you go out with me, all I know is that for the very first time in my very existence, I feel something for you that is completely unexplainable to me. I'm not the type of guy who feels things like that for anyone, I don't do relationships, I tell her with a little bit of regret in my tone. Wait a minute, are trying to tell me that you have never been in a relationship before? I nod at her. I am, it's not that I am against them, I guess I just have yet to find someone who has ever made me think about anything further than a first date. Until, Me? She asked curiously. I run a hand down my face and to my jaw, Yes, until you. I don't know what it is about you that has me feeling all sorts of different things, but there it is. I see us walking through Central Park, my arm around you holding you close to me as we share an ice cream cone, then I see us curled up on a couch watching movies together while you try to throw popcorn into my mouth, then I see us having a picnic at a beach somewhere and it's just me & you and a glass of Merlot, we sit there watching the waves crash as you lay beside me on a blanket.

After I let all that out, I watched her body give a shutter as she said 'OH'... I just knew that there could be no way in Hell that this girl is going to stay right now. If I were her, I would have taken off in a full-on run! I wouldn't even hesitate, because I would think she was crazy, but there was something in Samantha's eyes that told me she wasn't going anywhere, and that she knew exactly what I was talking about. She took another sip of her wine and then she inhaled a breath. Her eyes glimmered in the dim light, and I wanted to reach across the table, and touch her. 'I think that sounds like the perfect date. I blinked at her in surprise, 'You do? She nods with a beaming smile, I do. Which part did you think was perfect? All of it... I want to do all of it, and I want to do it with you.
