Foolish Deeds and Their Consequences

World of fools

There lived a farmer named Karalchi in a village. His income was so good that he could easily feed his wife and daughter. Karalchi raised his daughter Kirali with great love and care. Kirali loved her father very much.

Karalchis wife would prepare food every day at noon and Kirali would go to the farm to meet her father with the food. She would return home only after feeding her father with her own hands.

One day when Kirali left with the food, the sun was very hot. On the way, she sat under a tree and started taking rest. Then she saw that a monkey was sitting on the tree. The monkey had hugged its child to its chest. Kirali started thinking that one day she would also have a cute child, she would name her child Lalgalno. She would love her Lalgalno a lot.

Then bad thoughts started coming to her mind. She started thinking that when he does mischief, I will get very angry with him. He will keep running around being naughty. If one day he starts running on the stairs, he will fall down. Then my lalgalno will get hurt. If the injury is severe, he will die. Oh What will happen to my lalgalno Thinking this, she started crying and kept saying again and again My lalgalno, my lalgalno. She kept sitting and crying for hours and forgot to take food to her father.

When Kirali did not return home for a long time, her mother thought that she should go and tell her father that Kirali has not returned home. She went towards the field.

On the way, she saw Kirali sitting under a tree and crying, so she went to her daughter and asked Daughter, why are you crying

Kirali kept crying saying My lalgalno and told her mother the reason for her crying. After listening to the whole story, her mother started crying without thinking and said mera lalgalno. Both mother and daughter sat down and started crying.

Karailchi had not got lunch. Due to this he was angry. As soon as it was evening he left for home. On seeing his wife and daughter crying on the way, he thought that surely some untoward accident has happened, due to which both of them are crying.

With a pounding heart he asked both of them the reason for crying. On hearing the reason he became mad with anger. He was not able to understand whether he should laugh at the foolishness of his wife and daughter or tear his hair in anger. He screamed and said In this world there is no one more foolish and mad than you people. I am going and will return home only when I meet someone who is even more foolish than you.

Karailchis wife and daughter Kirali ran after him to please him, but by then Karailchi had gone far away. While walking, Karalchi reached a nearby village. He saw that there was a crowd at one place. He tried to go inside and find out the reason. He found that people were gathered around a pond. The moon was visible in the water. Many people were claiming that they would catch the moon.

Every person would come forward after paying the fee to catch the moon, and then try to catch the moon in the water. The rest of the people were clapping as spectators and enjoying the competition of catching the moon.

Karalchi moved ahead after seeing the foolishness of the people. There he saw that an old womans hand was stuck in a tin box. Many people were trying to pull her hand out.

The old woman was screaming in pain but her hand was not coming out. Karalchi asked what was the matter He was told that the box was filled with wheat and the old woman was trying to take it out by filling her fist with wheat. Then her hand got stuck in the box and now it is not coming out.

Meanwhile, one person said I have found an easy way to take the hand out. This will cause some pain to the old mother but at least the hand will come out.

Everyone asked What is that trick

We will cut off the old mothers hand. Otherwise she will have to spend her whole life with her hand stuck in the box. I think cutting off the hand is easy, but spending life with hands in the box is difficult.

Meanwhile, another person said You are amazing brother. A better way than this is to cut the box from the bottom.

Karailchi banged his head after listening to the people, he said Grandma, open your fist and leave the wheat in the box.

Karailchi had just said this when the old woman left the wheat from her fist and her hand came out. People started thanking and rewarding Karalchi.

Karalchi returned home with a very sad heart thinking that perhaps there is no dearth of fools in this world. Just like there are many very intelligent people, the world is also full of many fools, each one more foolish than the other.
