Speaking about why her parents didn't want her to be an actress, and revealing the mean text her dad sent to her, Kemz Mama aka Mummy Wa said:
KEMZ MAMA (MUMMY WA): My dad is more of this, you know, he's more long term. So he was wondering "is this thing going to sustain you for a very long time?", "I see actresses, I see actors, you know some of them are doing things oh. Don't think it's by the work they're doing." He tells me a whole lot of time.
But my dad, I understood where he was coming from, because at that peak, he was already telling me "Kemi, pension. Do we have pension? We don't. If you like, don't save your money. Make the money and don't save it." Pension, HMO, things that people have in their own company, in their offices. It's not even about the money, because truly entertainment actually makes money that in a day, someone will make in a month. And that's what's intriguing and interesting, that why would I be slaving myself to go to work when I can just be at home making that money.
Are you investing in the right way? Like, are you are you securing certain points in your life? Because you will get to a certain point where jobs are not coming in. And it doesn't necessarily mean when you are old. There are times when you will not just have certain inflow of income, or it's not as much, or you now have like more expenses coming in.
So, my dad was just being—as at that time I didn't understand it—truly, because there was a day he sent me one message. He said: you are chasing irrelevant irrelevances.
I looked and I was like how can just one sentence be so mean? And it made me think. At at first I thought he made a mistake. Like, why? But looking back, I see that he was well-intentioned. Because he said what he said is what made me think of certain things. He gave me a lot of insights into a lot of things, and I feel like that is what is helping me till this day.
