Wish Fulfilled

Keanu's Wish

By cynthia sonsallaPublished 5 years ago 8 min read

6’2, athletic build, long black, wavy, elven braided tied back hair and light green eyes, keanu walked into the futuristic style mcdonalds. He saw his estranged uncle with some now old exfriends of his, just leaving a booth near a window table. He noticed his uncle robert leave a expensive little black book on the chair, and he went and picked it up. He meant to return it to his uncle. But when he turned around robert and company were nowhere to be seen, he rushed outside to the parking lot, hoping to catch them, so he could return it, but they were gone. He turned around and proceeded back inside and placed his regular filet o fish meal order and sat down at the same booth his uncle and crew had vacated. He opened the black book, and got the surprise, of his life.

There were 2 inheritance cheques one for $20,000.00 and the other for 755,000,000.00 both with his name on it, a letter from his uncle’s lawyer stating the cheques were legal inheritance payments, a mailbox key, and a note from his uncle addressed to him in it along with a envelope of apparently immediate spending money.

He had debated opening the note and accepting the cheques or envelope of money. He thought back about the fact that he had basically disowned his well to do family, especially his mother Winnifred, after she had taken advantage of him and defrauded him of everything he owned including his dream home. Finally he snapped back to reality just as his order was called, he went and picked up his order and sat back down at the table, opened the bag and put his meal on the table dumping his fries like usual in the top part of his filet o fish box and drowning them in ketchup. Keanu's bright green eyes finally falling again on the note black book and the note from his uncle, he opened the note finally, read it, and was totally shocked by the contents... it read as follows,

Dear Keanu;

Please i know you can never forgive your bitch of a mom for what she did and i don’t blame you.. after all she is my sister and i know her well, the truth is i found out to late about it to do anything to help you or stop her. I’m letting you know that i don’t like in the least what she did, please accept these cheques , money and to hold on to this book no matter what happens. Because of family circumstances it would be better you don’t contact me directly! If you have any questions or need anything write it down in the book and place it in the mailbox that the enclosed key is to. I will be checking it once a week and will write back to you in it. All i ask is that you don’t contact me directly and use part of the money to do something to help the poor not via charity, but literally do something to help those in need and that you use part of it to buy a new place that’s yours outright.

Sincerly

Uncle Robert

He couldn’t believe what he was reading, especially after what had happened. He emerged slowly from the booth, pulled on his tattered black leather jacket, threw out his lunch garbage. It had started to snow again as he walked down to the bank, he reached into his pocket and drew out his gloves, and thought to himself a new place would definetly be better that the beat up wreck of a non-running motorhome that him and his two dogs were living in at the moment. It had been running when he bought it second hand, but had blown the head gasket and taken severe wind damage from a windstorm recently. The damage had been in the form of a tree falling on the back end of his motorhome, taking out part of his propane bottle holder, and part of his back window which was the window for his bathroom in the motorhome. it had taken him 6 hours to cut up the tree with his hand saw and clear it. Only his solid metal lockboxes had stopped the tree from doing more damage. Not having the money to fix it and the infamous I.C.B.C only wanting to give him 200 for the repair, he had to make do the best he could. At the moment it was parked in the back pasture of a friend of a friend who he was paying $300 a month to, to park and live in it. He hated it, especially seeing how he was supposed to have running water and electricity hooked up, and his landlord refused to keep his word and supply it. Reaching his bank ,he stood the fifteen minutes in line finally reaching the teller where he presented the lawyer’s letter, and the inheritance cheques to the teller he knew quite well. She looked at both then by bank rules called the manager who phoned the lawyer for confirmation, receiving it, okayed it and congratulated Keanu and wished him all the best and let him know he was glad to see things were getting better for his situation.

The manager also made sure to make the funds available immediately. Keanu deposited the cheques, and then proceeded to leave the bank, walking up the street to the office of a real estate agent he knew and had done business with before, tapping on her window, lisa motioned him to come in. He showed her the lawyer’s letter and confirmation of funds. She was overjoyed at his good fortune, to see him able to get back on his feet again, was a wish she had had for him, she was glad to see it come true, and was more than willing to help him obtain any place he wanted. He pointed out the properties he was interested in and also let her know he wanted to buy a acreage besides the one for him. He let her know his uncle’s stipulation, and wanted to buy a acreage that was at least 42 acres. His idea was to buy the acreage, and contact his friend kris, who built solar tiny homes. He would divide up into two acre each the land and put a tiny home on each, and unbreakable solar fencing around each, which would provide the power for each one, and set it up so part of the acre would be garden with a small greenhouse on each, part would be for raising small livestock for food with a small barn, and the rest could be used anyway the tenant wanted. His main idea was to make them available to any homeless that wanted a roof over their head and who was willing to become fully independent again by working the small farm, that each tiny home was part of, and as a added bonus his deal to them was simple if they could stay clean of drugs and alcohol for 1 year and show they had become fully independent, he would surprise them with the title to that piece of the acreage on two conditions. One they stayed clean and didn’t sell it to anyone else that it stay part of the small farm community he had built. Two that if they didn’t want it, then that it would revert back to him, to be distributed to someone else in need at that time. Two days later she called him with the perfect properties for both needs and his friend who built solarized tiny homes also got back to him, excited at the idea. He also went to the dodge dealership and bought a new dodge 4x4 ram truck and had a fifth wheel hitch installed, through his friend kevin that worked there. Then he went to the local rv place and bought a new 40 foot fifth wheel. He couldn’t wait to get home with it and watch the dogs surprise at it. It was a huge good change from his piece of junk motorhome. he made sure to make copies of all his receipts and placed them with a home designed thank you card in the black book, he also wrote a note to his uncle outlining his plan for the big property to help the homeless as asked, asking him if he could help get the needed permits for the building part of it. Keanu made sure to have a backup plan for acquiring the permits, if his uncle said no to helping him seeing how he said he couldn’t really get involved. As Robert instructed he went to the post office where the box was and placed the book in the box as instructed, deep down inside it reminded him of his old favorite show growing up called Mission Impossible, where the leader would retrieve the self destructing message. Part of him was scared he’d wake up and find he was dreaming the whole thing. He literally kicked himself with his leather boots just to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. He picked up a special supper for both him and his dogs as a celebratory meal, then went home and surprised both his slumlord landlord, and his dogs with both the news and the presence of his new truck and fifth wheel. he put his dogs in their carrier and transferred them to the truck then proceeded to transfer all his belongings and things from the motorhome to the fifth wheel. Then he called the wreckers and sold the motorhome to them for the scrap metal.

His jealous landlord made it clear it couldn’t stay there so he collected everything, packed it up in the fifth wheel and truck, and proceeded to leave. Truth be told he was glad to be rid of his good for nothing landlord. Making sure the dogs were secure in their carrier on the seat beside him in the front of the truck, he turned on his favorite Paul Stanley solo cd, and proceeded to drive farther up island to a provincial campsite just outside the town on a lake. He pulled in and part of him wished then he had bought a small boat. He realized then how much he missed the weekly fishing, him and his uncle robert used to take before his mother had caused all the trouble. He stepped out of the truck unhitched the fifth wheel and proceeded to fire the generator in the fifth wheel. It fired silently and without and problems, he then went and reparked the truck properly beside the fifth wheel. unlocking the door of the fifth wheel he brought the carrier with his excited dogs in it in the fifth wheel and making sure they couldn’t access the things they shouldn’t, he released them from the carrier. he proceeded to organize the fifth wheel including putting his new bedding on his new bed, then got the food out and put in bowls at the table for him and his dogs. Who always sat at the table with him to eat, they thought they were human, and he loved them more than life. He wasn’t about to break it to them that they weren’t. He had taught them since puppy hood to sit at the table, and eat by standing on the seat with their two front paws on the table. After supper it was dark out he went outside and got a fire going in the firepit, messaged his friend kris where he was and joined him for dessert and coffee, over the campfire. Kris brought his portable keyboard and he pulled out his guitar, they jammed for the first time in months for a couple of hours, sitting around the fire. then they proceeded indoors discussed and drew up the plans. Finally he slept happy that night.
