Why This Teddy Bear is So Important to Me - Rema

If you are a fan of Rema in any way, that is if you are a fan of his music or you are a fan of his art, then you must have most definitely come across teddy bears. Teddy bears are very prevalent in Rema's craft. It is in his artworks, he has performed live with teddy bears, the teddy bear thing is very much a part of Rema's branding. The question is why?

Even for many deep fans of the singer, they have always seen the teddy bear thing as merely an aesthetic thing or a branding thing, but as it turns out, there's more to the story. During a brand new interview with TDE Minisode, Rema was asked about his unique love for teddy bears and why they are such a big part of his brand. Rema answered the question honestly and here's what he had to say about why exactly the teddy bear is so important to him.

Speaking during an episode of TDE Minisode, Rema was asked "What is the significance of this bear?" Rema responded saying:

Creatively I like to infuse everything about me from when I was young to where I'm at right now. Actually the teddy bear played a significant role in my life whereas there was a point in my life where I didn't really have friends. When I was quite young, I didn't really have friends and I lost a couple of people in my life. So I didn't really have someone to like talk to as much. Yeah I had sisters, but I related more with my brother. So I had a teddy bear and I just always conversated with the teddy bear. Yes, I don't get any words back and it was a quick phase, but it was a phase that was like therapy for me. It was significant. So while I was sketching my first artwork, my second artwork, it was like I just tapped into that space, that phase of mine and it just clicked and I just carried that story along. I feel like the teddy bear is still going to play a more significant role. Do you know I actually have a full teddy bear costume? I actually do. I have a full teddy bear costume. It's so cool.

Wow, what a story. I personally love the whole teddy bear thing. It is very unique to Rema's brand and I love the artwork and imagery of it across his multiple forms of media. It's very creative and the story behind it is very heartfelt. Now I understand it.
